Default Little victories

Ok, I know it is sooo not a big deal as compared with some of the huge achievements of some folks here @ 3FC, but I have a small victory to share.
Yesterday I got home around 9:30 after a full day of work and classes, exhausted and craving something sweet. I walked around the fridge in circles, thought about it, made my self a cup of mint tea with Splenda, took a bubble bath and went to sleep.
I know, it’s not a big deal, but there were two things that happen there:
1) I recognized the difference between true hunger and a craving.
2) I didn’t fall for it.
I just asked my self, (and I’m probably paraphrasing someone smarter than me): “What can I do today to make me proud of my self tomorrow?” And, the best part – it worked! I really am proud of my self. If only now I could do that same thing another couple of hundred times.
Anyway, just wanted to share my little victory.

P.S. Beverly, thanks again for all your help.

Oh, NinaV, I know just how you feel! It's great when we can recognize emotional hunger vs. real hunger and choose to have restraint! I do the tea thing, too, quiet often. Now, if I can just make myself go to bed on time!

Anyway, good going!!

That is a huge achievement and you should be shouting about it.
Being able to know when you should and shouldnt have something is wonderful. And the more better and faster you get at telling yourself you dont need something the easier it becomes. Thats great

Every small achievement is a step in the right direction. The biggest thing to remember is that we did not make just one bad mistake in one night and wake up the next morning overweight, it was a lifestyle of errors. The important thing I found when losing weight is to recognize each mistake I was making and correct it on the way.
By the way, did I say way to go on your achievement?!!!

Thanks everybody for all the great replies. It's nice to have a place where people can relate to something that small ans see that it's a part of something big.
Let's just hope I can keep it up.

I think that is great, I was proud of myself last night for almost the same thing. I ate a little more at dinner than I would have liked and when it is my normal before bed snack time, I was able to tell myself that I needed to skip it tonight and went right to bed For a sweet/snackaholic that was a major victory for me Keep up the good work........
