Power/Ideal Life Collage
In the book I have JC recomends doing a Power (or Ideal Life) Collage. I haven't done this but I have been meaning to. Have any of you done this? I have compiled some suggestions on how to get started on this project. I think I will try it soon. I have friends who have done collages and felt that their dreams have come true exactly how they did their collage.
Jorge says to create a power collage, paste a photo of yourself at your heaviest weight onto a piece of poster board. Next, cut from magazines or catalogs at least three images that relate to things you want to do when you hit your goal: wearing a form-fitting dress or bathing suit, running with your children, or climbing a mountain. For more inspiration, add a quote such as "Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me."
Hang your collage on the bathroom mirror or refrigerator where you'll see it every day--even reduce a photocopy to keep in your purse. When you feel discouraged or tired of your get-healthy program, a glance at these empowering images will remind you of your ultimate goal and help you keep your resolve.
Here is another idea for a similar type of Ideal Life Collage:
POWER/IDEAL LIFE COLLAGE
Collage-making and visualization exercise to help imprint the vision of your ideal life on your subconscious.
PURPOSE *To encourage people to dream big dreams and visualize clear possibilities their lives.
*To make these dreams more real by creating a collage.
SUPPLIES AND SETUP
*A large supply of different magazines, the more varied the better.
*Pair of scissors
*Glue-stick
*10” by 15” or larger pieces of cardboard.
DIRECTIONS
1. Include in your collage everything that you want in your ideal life in any or all of the following life categories: weight-loss, relationships, education, money, career, travel, house, possessions, and family.
2. Think about what you want in your ideal life. Ignore any limitations that come to mind. For the purpose of this collage, imagine that anything you really want is possible. Look through magazines, looking for pictures that you feel drawn to. If you feel positively about the picture and want in your life what it depicts, tear it out.
3. Once you have the pictures you want, begin to cut out the pictures to fit them together in a way that pleases you. If you feel something is missing, continue to look for it.
4. Begin gluing the pictures to the cardboard. Arrange them any way you like to make a collage, remembering that it only needs to please you.
5. Keep your collage and put it up in a place where you can see it and realize your goals.
LIFE LESSONS
Look carefully at what you want in your life NOW, and look closely at the choices you are making. Are your choices and resulting actions leading you toward what you want? If not, what are you going to do about it? Dreams and goals are often limited by your Inner Critic. What about your goals? Are you thinking too small about what you can contribute or accomplish? Are there “dreams deferred” that have been sitting on your mental shelf too long?
