Default If ya gotta drink, what are you drinkin'?!

Hey guys, obviously, the correct answer is we SHOULD NOT be drinking, right?! Because that really puts us back so many calories and a slothe like day the next..

But let's face reality..Sometimes, and its like this in my social scene, drinking, exp. excessive drinking, is what we do...I have not been for the last 2 weeks, but man was that hard! (sort of, im not really an alkie or anything!)... Its just that, when your meeting new people, like I am here, this is the way in which people socialize..

So, that being said, what drinks do you think is BEST to have: I go for red or white wine
Gin and Tonic or something the soda water

Now, Im actually living in Uganda working, and we dont have access to diet sodas! Thats why Im alittle limited here! And the diet here, its all about the carbs!

Red wine is a good choice. If you had access to diet soda, amaretto and diet coke or malibu and diet coke are both good. Light beer is pretty low cal and I can't drink much beer so that always slows me down. Avoid fruity drinks with lots of mixers because those are easy to overdo and huge on calories. I also drink vodka and seltzer (soda water). Good luck making good choices!

Actually, flavored liquors have a boat load more calories, as do those mixed with juices, than do straight alcohol and a diet something.

When I am trying to stay OP (other than the first 2 weeks of P1 on South Beach, which I start again tomorrow), I will have a Jack and Diet coke - which is about 60 cals per drink.

A shot of non-flavored vodka or whiskey is usually about 60 cals.

Hope that helps some!

I'm definitely not one to give advice on what's best. I start off with a couple Bud Lights thinking I'm counting so I can track my calories then after a few I forget that I was tracking and I start doing Jager and Red Bull shots.

I would think sticking with light beer would be your best bet if you don't have access to diet sodas or do straight liquor.

I usually drink red wine or white wine. I don't care for beer and I rarely drink hard alcohol (apart from the occasional margarita or mojito as a treat).

If I can't get a good glass of wine, I'll often just drink water instead (I used to drink Diet Coke at bars, but recently gave up caffeine).

Of course, my all time favorite thing to drink is good champagne or a kir royale (which I love so much I've contemplated getting some creme de cassis to keep around so I can make champagne cocktails when people come over for dinner parties).

I have tried to cut back on drinking, but if I am going to have a mixed drink I opt for a vodka club with a splash of cranberry w/ a lime. Tastes a lot like a vodka cran but less calories! Diet ginger ale w/ gin, or lemon drops are good just use vodka, a sugar alternative on the rim of the glass and on the lemon slice. I try to use lots of ice to fill a glass, less room for the other stuff!

The thing that really sucks for me is that my tolerance is really high, which is partly because I have a history of alcoholics on both sides of my family, so the calories are sky high before I start feeling it. The last time I got together and drank with my friends I had 7 shots of vodka, and then I was only tipsy. So I don't really drink much... not only is it not good for me to have that much liquor, but the calories are astronomical, and honestly, it's not worth the calories or the bitter taste for me to drink beer or anything if I can't get buzzed from it, you know?

For those of you who don't have that problem, I recommend screwdrivers. At least the orange juice is healthy, haha. And you don't need too many of them to feel it kick in, you know?
