Default What about baby food (in a jar)?

I babysit for a baby boy and I was feeding him baby food last night and I started looking at the calories, fiber and vitamins. I thought this isn't such a bad idea. Do you think this would be a good substitute for like yogurt or dairy if I could fine one with a lot of calcium? Or maybe good low cal snack ideas? Just wondering. This maybe a totally ridiculous idea. Anyone have input?

Some of the desserts taste great. The cherry cobbler is a good one.

I thought I was the only one with this idea! LOL

Well, I've certainly eaten my share of leftover baby food. Probably sf/ff stuff would be better for snacks, unless you stick to something like applesauce. Remember, babyfood is supposed to make you grow!

I've sometimes thought of buying a few jars of pureed squash or peas, just to have a bit on hand to add to a soup or other dish, rather than buying a whole big can or having the hassle of preparing a big squash.

I have been wondering the same thing.. So, does anyone know if the baby food would be alright for snacks. There is such a variety of baby foods out there for when you don't want that much to eat. Plus they are portable to take to work. I would think they would be alright since we can eat what we want as long as we stay within the points. What does everyone else think..

Unless you are sticking to the single ingredient ones, they are pretty yucky, in my opinion, especially any of the ones with meat. There is basically no seasoning at all, and jarred meat tastes like petfood to me. My kids were basically vegetarians until they were old enough to eat the real thing. Possibly they would be better hot than cold, but I still think you'd be better off with single-serving soups, applesauce, yogurt and ss/ff pudding. They aren't cheap either, unless they are on sale.

I bet that stuff is yucky without any seasonings... The only thing I've ever had is the peaches..

I was just thinking about eating for fruit and veggie snacks. Never anything with the meat. I thought it would be a good sweet fruity thing that could hit the spots. I don't mind the fruit baby foods. WE need a pros opinion on this. Maybe someone can ask their WW coach. I don't go because I can't afford it.

Default Baby food

You can have whatever you want on weight watchers. If you want baby food, have baby food but, journal it and count the points.

I will add one thing...dairy must be a dairy product not just a high calcium product. It has more to do with it must have in addition to the same amount of calcium as a cup of milk the same amoutn of zinc, protein, riboflavin and Vitamin D alsol.

I have seen recipes for soups using baby food, squash or carrot, supposedly high in vitamins. I never really looked. I agree with mamalove, if you keep track of the points you can eat whatever you want, but also, like Kel, dairy for dairy.

As far as the single serving thing. I bought some ziploc containers, 1/2 cup and 1 cup variety and a big can of peaches from Sam's, it costs something like 50 cents an ounce for the single serving things and like 3 cents an ounce for the big one. Then I'm transferring to my own cups. I use them for taking grapes and stuff to work too. That way I don't have to measure out a cup, since that's what they are.

best to all
