Well, I will start us off this morning as I have just gotten home from work at the hospital. It's 443am cst. It was a decent night but i'm not tired. I think it was the rev-it-up mocha cappaccino I had around 930pm .. Was awful tasty. Not alot planned today, working out at some point..Hoping to sleep a little. Raining here big time, hoping it slacks off a bit, but we'll see.
Well, i'm off. Will check back in later after I've gotten up. Have a great day everyone!
I’m off to the Greenhouse for 8 this morning and hope to do a few things first.
Yesterday was a quilting and ice chipping day and I made progress on both. Now that I’ve slowed down, the machine quilting is going much better and the quilt will be OK for the baby shower. As I work on it, I’m thinking of the next project which will be more exciting.
Food was perfect yesterday and water was not! I will take some bottles with me to the Greenhouse this morning. The first year I worked there, I filled my bottles from one of the hoses and found out later it was water with plant fertilizer!
Gotta go and crank up the day, i.e., get Harry up, fed and settled before I leave.
Morning chicks. Yesterday was a great day at work. I really like it. But we will see how it goes with the hours thing. I don't work again til sat from 6-9:30. Well it is fun for now so I will take it from there. I went to Curves last night as well. I really like that was well. Now if I could get the eating thing back to normal things would be great.
amb_lyn- sleep well chickie.
[B]Ruth-[B] water with plant fertilizer!!!!!!! Maybe that is why your weight has stalled. fertilizer makes things grow. Glad to hear you are taking your own water today.
Well I gotta run for a bit the tea pot is ready and I need to get the wee ones ready to go catch their bus.
I thought we had snow overnight, there was a thick layer of frost over everything! But the sun is shining now and it's supposed to be around 50, I hope the weatherman is right. I'm meeting a friend for lunch and taking the kids to the park afterwards. It's a really busy week around here, yesterday I never did get the chance to peck in here. It's also a pretty hard week for me to stay OP, with all the activities planned and running around. At least I can get my 1/2 hour at Curves in every day!
I am new here to the south beach diet and looking forward to losing weight! Lately, I have tried every way to lose the 15 pounds that I put on from being a newlywed and moving around a lot because my husband is in the navy. I tried counting calories and weight watchers. Nothing works! so Im trying the south beach diet. Im not looking forward to the first phase being without cereal and fruit, but we shall see. Any good advice. Also what are you all having for Easter?
talk to you soon
Danielle
Amber, I hope you're sleeping soundly!
Ah... rain in Kansas... sounds sort of cozy. I hope you get some sunshine soon.
Ruth, are you going to take a picture of the quilt when it's finished? I haven't made one for years. I made one each for DH and DD about 12 years ago, and DH's is getting a bit tatty.
It's so beautiful out! DH and I went for a two hour walk yesterday. Including the peace rally on Saturday, I'm up to five hours of walking this week, and I'm feeling some old, formerly comatose muscles that thought they'd never be used again.
Little Chick, I'm so glad you're enjoying your new job!
And that you're liking Curves!
Cottage, have fun with your friend and the kids!
I'm really impressed with the fact that you're so consistant with your exercising. Keep it up, girl! The good eating will come back!
Danielle, I'm glad you found our daily thread... welcome!
Ah... Easter. Normally we make bread, but I'll think we'll pass on that this year. I have a tendancy to snarf back an entire loaf on my own. With butter.
I haven't figured out what we're having yet, either. I'm waiting for ideas from the peanut gallery.
Kissy... Shambala sounds like a fascinating place!
Bunna, the wedding must have been lovely!
I'm so sorry about your DIL's father. I'll keep him in my prayers.
RNMom, snow again! No wonder you can't get back on track, sweetie... you must be so fed up! Sending you big hugs...
Soon2bfab, I add vinegar to my poached eggs. Mom always did that, and I've followed suit. I always liked that the egg didn't stay "together"... mom called them "Angel eggs".
Amy, you poor darling... how is your back today? Stop lifting things, sweetie!
Peggy, when will the renovations end!?!? Thinking about you and your Mom, hon.
I'm feeling a little better today. I can get out of bed and walk around so that is good. Yesterday DF took over DS duties and I went to bed around 7 pm. Loaded with muscle relaxers and Ibuprofens. Today I'm doing better. It definately was the going up and down the stairs with that heavy golf bag. What does DM have in there? Rocks?
Ellis - Yes I guess I have to face the facts that I'm just one of those people who has to say "I'm sorry I can't lift that" I used to hate it when people would say that to me - but now I have a new found respect for that statement. At least I've been OP.
Ruth - I can't even imagine how bad of tummy ache you got from that fertilizer. Hopefully it wasn't too much.
Dritter - Good luck on the diet. You've come to the right place for support and guidance.
Amblyn - Hope your sleeping soundly.
Cottage - Have fun!
Little chick - Hope things settle down for you so you can get back to being OP.
Welcome to the Beach, Danielle! Remember that the weight may come of slowly since you only have 15 pounds to lose. Check out the updated food lists in the FAQ section. We are having pork tenderloin for Easter. There is a good recipe in the cookbook. We will probably also have the Sesame Ginger Asparagus from the cookbook. I imagine I will steam broccoli as well and serve Uncle Ben's Converted Rice (I'm in Phase 2). In phase 1, I would shred cabbage and cook it (be careful, it overcooks easily). I still do that quite a bit when I want to reduce the amount of pasta or rice that I am eating. I have a recipe for a Spicy Cranberry sauce that I will use if I can find fresh or frozen cranberries. It is phase 2 due to the fruit but uses Splenda.
Tonight is a Cub Scout committee meeting so I'm just throwing together WW pita pizzas with ham. If I can get out of work on time, I should be able to make it to Pilates first.
I did well on PH1 til 1830. We got lost trying to find the new place for my class. I was so frustrated. I purposely made "them" (my family) thin crust pizza for dinner bc I would be at school.. NOT! Long story but I didn't make it to class and I have our food rationed out for the week. So I ate 3pcs of thin crust pizza... didn't make time for brkfst this morning? What is happening to me? I was so mad I could of ate the whole pizza myself.
Morning everyone....yesterday I was a very bad chick & lazy! I had an ice cream bar, which I had no business eating & I swipe a chicken nugget with sauce from DBF plate. On top of that, I didn't exercise....ugh! I need to get back on track, I'm weighting myself on Friday & I want the scale to move downwards, not upwards!
So I've had 24 oz of water (instead of coffee - it's killing me slowly!) & I've exercised for 30....got another 60 minutes to go! So, I'm off to do that before work.
Amber - sweet dreams, hope you are getting some sleep.
Ruth - I'm struggling with the water too!
Little chick - have fun at curves!
Cottage - enjoy the park!
Ellis - thanks for the tip....still haven't tried making eggs yet.
Danielle - welcome!
Anchor - I'm so glad you are moving around better - hope you feel better ASAP!
Hi Barb - the pizzas sound yummy!!
See you ladies later!!!
Laurie?? Where are you? Hope you are over the cold!!
Amber, that must have been some cappucino!!! Did you use SF chocolate syrup? I haven't tried it yet, as SF chocolate flavor has never been a fav of mine, but I miss mocha cappucinos!
Ruth, have a blast at the greenhouse... about the hose!
LC, another job, huh? Hope this one is much better than the last. You are one busy chickie!!! Good for you on Curves. Don't put so much stress on yourself, though...one major change at a time...the food will come along eventually.
Cottage, it's striking how similar our weather is even though we are hundreds of miles apart! Must be in the same band or something. We had the same frost and prediction of high 40s/low 50s here. I'm hoping! Hope all that busyness means less munching for you!
Danielle, welcome! So glad you've joined us in the daily! You might enjoy talking with A Broad Abroad, who is with her DH who's stationed in Germany. Not sure what branch of the military, though. I know Phase 1 sounds hard, and it is, but after the first 3 to 5 days of detox, you'll be amazed at how your cravings go away. It is SO worth it! For Easter, I'm thinking of a ham, glazed with SF apricot jam and spices, maybe a cheesy cauliflower casserole, lots of veggies (green beans?) and some new potatoes (a special treat for once a month). What about you? No reason you can't do a ham, veggies, and the South Beach Mashed Potatoes suprirse or just a casserole with cauliflower au gratin.
Ellis you sound so cheerful...like a breath of spring yourself, you vernal girl (using my word for the day)! I'm so glad you're doing all that walking...wish it was as lovely here. DH might be taking me up your way for my 30th...more like Montreal, but I hope the weather is nice, if that's where we're heading!
Amy, so sorry about your back! Hope you feel better very soon!
Ooh, Barb, hope you are able to make it to Pilates...I love that class!
Me:
I'm still chugging away on my 30 page paper. Good thing is that I'm done with 24 pages. Bad thing is that I probably have another 30 or 50 pages to go. I think I expanded this project too much!
I have tons to do at work and I'm sick on top of all this other stuff to do. Can you say stress? Better get back to it...have a great day, chickies!
A quick hello this morning! I have a ton of things to do. Clena laundry clean laundry! lol It is supposed to storm today. The wind is startin to pick up out there. It's 63* this morning. I'll check back on y'all later.
Welcome Danielle! Tell your DH thanks for his service! I appreciate it and him!
Hunny, I know that feeling, but punishing yourself with food (yup, that's what you were doing!) didn't help. Take this as a lesson learnt and run with it...don't do it again because you remember how doing it this time felt. Here's some tips from Dr.A on not cheating...one of them is to have a backup plan with snacks for on the road, another is to plan your meals ahead. You might want to combine those two tips and plan a backup dinner for yourself if this ever happens again, okay? And then either post on here, or journal, or go for a walk...do whatever gets the anger out without hurting you in the process, okay? You are too special for that!
From the Daily Dish for 3-22-05:

Five Ways to Beat Cheating
If you cheat while on the South Beach Diet™, does it mean you've failed? Not even close. The South Beach Diet™ recognizes that everyone is bound to have their moments of weakness, and the damage can always be repaired. If your indulgence causes you to put on a few pounds or experience cravings, move back to Phase 1, or simply cut back on carbs with a high glycemic index. Once you've lost the added weight and gotten cravings under control, you can pick up where you left off.
If you find yourself cheating on a regular basis, try these tips for avoiding temptation:
Skip the chip and cookie aisle at the grocery store.
Empty your cupboards and refrigerator of all "illegal" foods.
When going out to eat, don't tease yourself by looking at the dessert menu. Instead, eat a bowl of sugar-free Jell-O or a sugar-free Popsicle when you get home.
For "emergencies," always carry a healthy snack with you, like a low-fat cheese stick or a handful of plain nuts.
If someone gives you an indulgent present, like a box of chocolates or your favorite cookies, share it with your coworkers or donate it to a local shelter.
Soon, thanks for thinking of me! You CAN do this...just stop sabotaging yourself, okay? A loving kick in the butt coming your way from someone who knows you are worth much more than that kind of behavior!
Can't stay long on the computer as my eyes are getting blurry again.,and it effects my whole day. I guess I will have to get new glasses with bi-fogel those little D's on the bottom. Didn't think I'd ever see the day. I quess that what happens when you get OLD!!
ELLIS Thanks for the good :weigh in vibes: Didn't feel like weighing in today, Tomorrow is another day!!
Danielle Welcome to the beach and the 3FC.You'll do fine on this way of eating.
Have a great day Will post early tomorrow. Hugs BB
Hi everyone. Just thought I would pop in for a few minutes. I have not been very good at keeping up with everyone. I am so sorry. Things have just been too busy and too stressful, but thankfully, they are settling down a bit for the next short while.
amb_lyn - Get some sleep, girl and stay away from those cappucinos. Personally, I love them and indulge, but caffeine has never affected my sleeping. DH says that I am always asleep about 5 seconds after my head hits the pillow...doesn't matter how much coffee, either.
Ruth - Do post pics of the quilt. I love to see the handwork of others. I got roped into making some Easter banners for the church this year. I have not shared our harrying lives with many people this past little while, so they didn't think twice about asking me to make the banners. I think I have gotten about 3 hours sleep for the past week and will probably end up stressed again over getting them done. Oh well, I should really learn to say no when asked, but people seem to want the reason and I was not prepared to give that out.
lc - Glad you are enjoying the job. Good luck and hope the hours work out.
cottage - We did get snow...about 6 inches and still coming down. It really is nasty weather out, but fortunately not the -40 that we had earlier in the winter. Hubby is just hoping that it will melt before he has to drag the snow blower out again.
Danielle - Welcome. Great to have you here. With so little to lose, you may find it will take longer than normal. Just hang in there, though, you can do it.
ellis - Congrats on the walking. Keep it up, you will be fit in no time. Have you posted the pics of your kitchen yet. If so, let me know when and I will go back and look. I have missed so much here lately that I don't even know where to begin to catch up.
anchor - So sad to hear that you are having back problems. Having watched my DM with really serious back problems and the acute pain that it causes her, word or warning are to look after it. There is nothing worse than not being able to walk and move about without great pain. Take care.
Barb - Your Easter dinner sounds so nummy. You must share the recipe for the Cranberry sauce if you get a minute. I haven't thought about Easter dinner yet...too much life getting in the way to think that far ahead.
HunnyBee - It's OK to take a detour now and then. Don't get mad and don't feel guilty. It happens. Just get back OP right away. Everything will be fine, and you will lose.
soon2Bfab - Yesterday is over, today is a new day and you are doing all the right things. I am so impressed with your exercise for the month. You are doing so well...the rest of us need some of your inspiration. Go girl!
Laurie - Good luck on the paper. This time of year is so stressful with the papers and exams. I am presently doing distance learning and can start courses whenever I am ready. I find that much more fitting with my schedule than being tied to the regular semester system. The only downside is that many people aren't able to get the motivation to complete the courses. So far, I have been OK, but some days is difficult. Take care.
Me - Nothing much new here. Just a bit stressed and waaaayyy too busy for my liking. However, there will be a day when I will wonder how I ever got through it...maybe there will be a day.
Hope everyone has a good evening. Will check in tomorrow.
