Thumbs down

Good morning Lifers, Soon-to-Be Lifers, Lurkers, and everyone else!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I was busy with a rugby tournament (DH plays) and now it should be quieter for me. I did a lot of walking on Saturday and tried to stay OP. I didn't do too bad considering.

So, does everyone have plans for Memorial weekend? What is everyone doing? We are heading to my cousin's for the weekend and hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Happy Monday everyone

Good Morning, Melissa, and all others!

We are heading out to Lake Tahoe Wed. morning and will stay over the holiday weekend. I'm looking forward to it, but there is so much pre-planning, packing, etc. that I'm already exhausted and we haven't even left yet!

I plan to get in a lot of hiking and, hopefully, stay somewhat OP.

Must rush to get work finished before I leave. Have a good week, everybody!

Hi Melissa and Austingal. It's already Wednesday! This thread sure is quiet. Aren't there any other lifers or lurkers out there who have something to contribute about the trials and tribulations of either maintaining their current weight or losing those last few pounds?

Your Memorial Day weekend is coming up, and our Victoria Day weekend has just ended. It was good to have a three-day break; actually, I didn't work on Friday so it was four days for me, altho I was ill on Friday so it wasn't a productive day.

Progress on the bathroom has been phenomenal this week. The ceramic tile is in - on the floor and tub deck and in the built-in shower. It looks absolutely beautiful - a big relief since you never know when you're choosing products what the end result will look like! I have to speak to the carpenter today about next steps, but I think it must be plumbing, painting and electrical in that order. Then we just need to get the hardwood installed in the bedrooms and hallway. DH will be in port one nite this week - Friday - and I'm certain he'll be thrilled with the progress made in the two weeks he's been gone.

My eating habits seem to be improving. I know I've dropped about three pounds since last week and still have about eight to go to get to 138 - my personal goal. Life feels a little more balanced and less stressful; that's probably the biggest factor in getting my eating back on track. I hate to equate the change with DH being at sea, but I'm sure that has something to do with it. I haven't cooked a meal from scratch since he left - have been living off of frozen meals like low-fat, homemade vegetable lasagna, eggplant parmesan, grilled chicken and salads.

Got out for a great run last nite with my sister. It had been a while - no excuse really, just a little break - so it sure felt good to get a workout. And it was a beautiful evening too.

Gotta get some work done - will check in later.

Seasaw: Sounds like you're making progress with the renovations. I remember all too well being anxious to get things back in order. I'm looking forward to the long weekend!

I went to my meeting at noon and was up 2#...yikes! I think part of it is due to eating some salty foods that I don't l normally eat. Anyway, I know what I need to do. Some days are easier than others *sigh*

Hope everyone else is doing okay

Hi all-
back from the Aleutians where the temp was a good 50 degrees different than it is here in Seattle. Yikes.

Had a good cruise, lots of science accomplished even though we lost 2 days to weather. The weather was outstanding, didn't get sick and the food was excellent which was good and bad. So, I ate alot and did get in a couple of runs on the treadmill. I'm still probably up a couple from the freeform eating, but getting back to my boring schedule at home will help.

Yikes, our house is a disaster area with the painting and scraping. I'm sorry I was away for the worst part. All our windows are covered in plastic so I feel like I have cataracts or something. Hopefully, they\ll start priming soon.

Seesaw, good job on the run, eating well and getting the contractors whipped into shape!

No real plans for Memorial Day weekend. I think we may have guests, if not, I'm going to spend it gardening, cleaning and relaxing. I was thinking of going out of town if I could find a really cheap ticket, but nixed that.

Hope everyone is well!

Hello to all -
Thought I'd check in since I don't seem to get much time to post any more.

lala - welcome back!

Melissa - thank you for helping keep the thread moving - I just don't know what happened to everyone else - like Tonyalyn - she just dropped out of sight. Don't worry about the gain - you seem so focused!

Seasaw - congrats on the three pound loss - my weight has also gone down a few pounds, so I am feeling better about that - need to get about 2-4 more pounds off to get back in my "comfort zone."

We don't have big plans for Memorial Day weekend - DH took off Friday & Tuesday. I don't work on Fridays, & also took Tuesday off. The weather typically sucks on Memorial Day weekend - usually rainy and/or cold. It is in the 50s today & doesn't sound like much of a warm up until Sunday.

I am planning to sign up for a 6 week beginner yoga class in town. Has anyone else done yoga? Any thoughts or opinions??

Later,
Katie

Hi everyone. The sun is shining again today. All's right with the world.

Glad to have you back on dry land lalala. DH was supposed to be home tomorrow for a day, but I learned this morning that there was a medical emergency on board (not him, thankfully) and the ship had to pull in to New York, throwing the schedule off somewhat. They dock in Halifax Saturday morning and are leaving on Saturday evening. At least he'll get a chance to see the progress on the bathroom.

Hey, the plumbers are in today to secure the fixtures. And I caved and hired someone to paint the bathroom - mostly due to the time factor. I don't want to be the one to hold things up, and the electrician can't be called until the painting is finished. More money, but worth it, I think. I'll still have lots of painting to satisfy that sense of accomplishment. The master bedroom and remainder of the upstairs, excluding the kitchen, are all mine

Glad to hear you're doing well katie and that you too have succeeded in getting closer to your comfort weight zone. I'm doing much better in that department, although I could afford to cut out the late night candy raids. In time, in time...

I agree with katie that Melissa has been instrumental in keeping this thread alive. That, and the focus that you bring to eating well and exercising regularly are a source of inspiration for me. You seen so steady and focused. I can manage that for a short while, but something always happens to shake me up. How do you do it?

Someone mentioned TonyaLynn. Any idea where/how she is these days? And what about Legal Eagle - another voice that we haven't heard in a long, long time. Does anyone remember Michele from Ottawa? Where is she these days?

Anyway, enough questions. Gotta run. Have a good day.

Hi everyone

Thanks for the kind words on keeping the thread going I find this is a good way for me to stay on track. The past couple of days I have been struggling with eating and in looking at my calendar TOM is coming and that's part of the problem. I have been going out and getting some walking in. Today I won't be able to because it's going to rain any moment.

I think part of the reason that I stay focused is because I don't want to gain my weight back. Some days are harder than others but that's part of the maintenance/lifetime thing. I think it's harder when you're trying to maintain rather than when you're in the losing mode. One of my little tricks is to re-read my WW materials and look over my old journals. My biggest help has been this thread because everyone here is supportive and understands the trials of maintaining weight loss.

I remember TonyaLynn and LegalEagle, but haven't seen any posts from them in a long time. Same goes with Michele. They must be busy or else they've "moved on".

Katie: Funny you should mention yoga...our director of our rec center here at the university asked if there was an interest in forming a yoga class...I've always been curious about giving it a shot so here's my chance. There's a lady at my WW meeting that goes and she has said it's been instrumental in her weight loss and she's more flexible. I'm going to give it a shot. You'll have to let us know what you decide.

As far as the weekend goes, we're leaving for my cousin's after I get off of work today and will be back home on Monday. I'm looking forward to the weekend away. She is also a fellow WW so I should be okay for the most part. I do know that we'll order out a little so I'll have to plan. I'm taking my sneakers and as long as the weather is halfway decent I'm going to go out and get some walking in and I know she'll join me.

Have a great weekend everyone! and let's hope it's nice weather wherever you are!

Hi All-

Man, it feels like Memorial Day weekend already started around here. Its hot and
sunny for Seattle. We have out of town guests for a few days and I would kill to
have them stay somewhere else. Our house is unbelievably claustrophobic currently with all the windows covered and primered. We did pick final paint colours today, so hopefully by June 14th our house will be painted.

I went to the doctor's yesterday for a small concern, no biggie, but the scale was a shock. I am up 6 lbs from my two week ago weigh in! I am hoping this is a fluke. I am going to weigh ini tomorrow, though I am not going to look at my weight until the 9th of June. I just can't stand it. I am depressed I did not make my goal and I am getting a bit discouraged.

Anyways, not much new to report. I am happy to be home in a few ways, its warm and the peonies are starting to bloom. I have lots of interesting stuff growing in my vegetable garden and if I could actually get to any part of my back garden, I would happily weed. The farmer's markets start tomorrow and I am inviting us to various friends' houses for dinner- we buy and make dinner with local ingredients and we can sit at a dining room table and look out at a garden, street or landscape instead of feeling like we're in a tent!

So, sorry for a long post. Its that kind of day.

Seesaw: I hope you DH had a productive cruise and gets to come home early!

Melissa: Have a great weekend away. Its nice to have an WW buddy while travelling!

kt: Yoga! Good for you! Are you doing an intensive class? I am jealous, tell us how you like it.

Austingal: I hope you enjoyed your vacation in Tahoe. I can't wait to hear about your hikes.

Well, I'm off to see if I can find some data. Fun, fun, fun.

Hello all and thank you for the invitation to join. I was feeling a bit shy, but after going on and on in today's journal I thought it was time to dive in.

By the way, how do you bold names? I've been posting on 3fc for a year and a half and have never figured it out.

So this is for me day 3 of the new life on "maintenance". I read the little book. The little book says add 4 points to your range. I'm all too willing. But I have a funny feeling that this will cause a weight gain, since I seemed to maintain just fine at the lower range (very long frequent plateaus). My dilemma is that I would like to eat at a higher range and maintain, and I hope to train the body that way. What has been other people's experiences? I'm not hungry at the top of my lower range (18-22), but my mind says that I'd like to eat more...the old old story.

Sorry to go on about WW/food related matter, rather than the personal life. But for the past 19 months, this has been the complete focus of my personal life for better or worse!

Have a great weekend - we'd like to see the sun, but are not holding out too many hopes...

Laurel
