Not much happening today around here - so far, anyhow. I need to take bulletins over to the Church so they are there for tomorrow's earlybirds and then get the Saturday papers. I love days like this!

I'm on my way over, Ruth! I'd love to cuddle up with Lucy & Hersh while you fix us breakfast. It's only 7* here, Brrrr. I'm having a tea before I go to Curves, then I want to stop in and have coffee with Mom & Dad and see how they're doing. I'm not really sure what my plans are for the weekend. My DD wants me to go over to her house in NJ, and we both need an outfit for the baby's christening next Sunday. But she has a lot of things she needs to do so I don't know if we'll be going shopping today or tomorrow. If I stay home today, I want to go out and get some new reading material, I don't have anything to read right now. So that's my exciting weekend for you!

Ah... what a lovely day. Everyone is sleeping, I've got coffee (yes, I will make some for my sweet DH when he wakes up. heh heh), and my darned server has resumed forwarding emails. It was down all day yesterday. I feel lost without my email.

Barb, don't you hate that income tax stuff? The last couple of years I've made mistakes, and thought we were getting about a thousand back. But we ended up getting about a hundred instead. Better than nothing, but the bright flashing lights come on in my head when I think I'm getting big bucks back.
This year we have an accountant, and he's found all kinds of stuff for us to claim that I hadn't thought of myself.

Bamie, thank GOD they are putting you out for the scope next week! I had it done last year, and was awake for it. Oh, lord... it was the most horribly invasive thing I've ever experienced. I thought they'd never stop feeding that tube down my throat... I thought I was going to die. No, I HOPED I'd die!

Amy... kayaking!? You lucky girl, you! I was hoping to get one this summer for the cottage, but I think I may have to wait until next year. I'll have to stick with canoeing for now.
A couple of my friends have taken kayaking classes, but I don't think I could ever do "the roll". I have visions of hanging upside down in the water drowning; unable to pull myself back up.

Yesterday I completely cleared out all the renovating stuff (tools, wood, shop vac, etc) from the living room, tidied it, and dusted. When DH came home, he said, "Something looks different in here..."

Cottage, it sounds like you have a fun day planned. I wish my DD was closer so we could do things like that. I think I'd die if I were to be out of reading material! Ellis and I are kindred spirits that way.

Hey, I took my Celebrex this morning and my knee doesn't hurt! A frassing miracle! I also had V8 and a cup of sauteed mushrooms and peppers with my eggs. I'm up to three veggies. A Phase I breakfast!

It's just a gorgeous day here today and the sunrise has moved further east. I have a spot in my kitchen where I can see the sunrise and it's moved from straight down the meadow to the north side of the Church tower. Spring is definitely coming!

As soon as it warms up a bit, I'll go down for the paper and then start the big shovel job on the deck. If I get some of the snow off, perhaps the rest will melt enough by tomorrow to get shovelled then. I like the deck cleaned off as The Girls loaf around on it and come in all snowy if it's not clear. It doesn't bother them to lie in the snow but it sure bothers me to have a snowy and wet couch!

Ruth, Ellis, and Cottage- Good morning and happy weekend to you all! Sipping on my one cup of java that I allow myself. I try to drink it as slowly as possible.

Sounds like everyone is planning a fairly relaxing weekend. Today is day one of spring break, something I have been looking forward to!

Our plan for break is to get DD's room painted- we are moving here into a regular bed, so need to purchase a mattress and box spring for that. My SIL gave us a whole set of white bedroom wicker furniture. After painting her room (pink is her color choice!) we are going to get the furniture scrubbed down and painted. It has been sitting in our garage for two years, so it is pretty filthy. She is really excited about this whole process. Then it is on to the nursery for the baby. I am sitting in what will be the nursery as I type- it is our office with piles of books and papers EVERYWHERE! I have a "vision" for what I want it to look like when we are done, so we will see.

I am going to go check out some posts to see what everyone has been up to! Have a super day.

Not much goin' on here either, just taking care of a bunch of 'niggles' around the house, trying to get ready for FIL to visit next weekend. He will be here for three weeks. We've never had houseguests for that long before. He's nice and easy to get along with, but I have no idea what he likes to eat - Then again, maybe he'll cook something for us. He used to be a cook for the merchant marines, or a university research vessel, or something like that, where they were out at sea for months at a time.

I made the cauliflower-broccoli-cheese soup (the Daily Dish recipe) the other day and took some to work for lunch. After I had heated it up everyone complained about the smell and suggested to not bring any more in I have to admit it did smell strange. If I make it again, I won't be adding cauliflower.

The other day someone gave me the Moosewood Restaurant New Classics cookbook, 2001. I have been reading it and the recipes look great, but I was surprised how often they use 'unbleached white flour.' Isn't that the same as plain flour?

Anchor weight, I enjoyed your mushroom adventure stories yesterday. Can't wait to see the pic of DS 'low to the ground!'

HI Chickies!

I don't usually get to check in on the weekend but I'm out running a few errands and ran by the office! It is a GORGEOUS day here today! Somewhere in the 70's and the sun is shining. I love these days.

This has to be quick because DH is waiting for me to come home and help him put in the recessed lights in the livingroom! WOOHOO! I'm gonna go tan a little and then will be back home and helping make an even bigger mess!

Hey chicks just a quick peck in as I am waiting for my mom to show up with my niece who is spending the night. Ellis how funny to think that I am still in bed. I was up and gone at 8 this morning. Taught 4 dance classes then went for my third interview. It was a floor interview I am pretty sure I have the job she just has to check my references. Ruth I will try to remember to bring my camera and tape a bit of the girls so you can check them out. They are doing Bob the Builder they are wearing overalls red plaid shirts hard hats with braids and yellow ribbons. They are also wearing work socks and yellow ribbons in their shoes. They look so cute. Well I have to run. I will try to pop in again later. If not probably not til tomorrow afternoon try outs start at 11:00 tomorrow. Night chicks.

Evening All!

I haven't been able to located the pictures of DS mushroomin but I'm still looking. I went to Sam's club and got all the stuff I needed to fill my vending machines at school. No matter how much I try to put "healthy" stuff in there they won't eat it. Young adults like crappy food. Potato chips, candy bars, coke & mountain dew. Those are the big sellers. It took me a couple of hours to unload the money and reload the items but we are all set for Monday's classes. A man at church sold me the machines and when they pay for themselves I'm donating the money profited to the local soup kitchen that I do all the volunteer work for. They do all the Senior meals on wheels programs in our county. Then DM and I went to the mall. I'm tired of trying squeeze DS's butt into his uniform pants. I was hoping to make it to May when they could start wearing shorts but we didn't make it. So we went to Old Navy and stocked up. I also hit Chico's and got a great new outfit. Then Disney store to buy DS some Incredibles underwear he would just die if he knew I was discussing his underwear online! I wonder when he is going to be too old for Disney underwear! That will be a sad day!

Glad everyone is doing well! DM is waiting for me to watch Mystic River with her so I have to run!

Morning, ladies! I am up waiting for the database administrator to finish her portion of the change so I am catching up on my reading of the forums. Yesterday was so much fun! I was at my den leader's house at 7 and we carpooled to the Boy Scout camp for a whole day of training. It was pretty chilly and sprinkled a couple of times but, thank goodness, the rain held off.

I didn't worry about my eating during the training. The tin foil lunch was not bad although I am sure the ground beef was too high in fat and there was a little bit of corn in the mixed vegetables. Where I REALLY went off plan was the dutch oven cobbler. But they wanted everyone to taste it since it is a tradition for cub scout camping. I'm having no cravings so I'm not going to worry. I cooked us a wonderful on plan dinner with lots of veggies - beef rolled up with ricotta inside and cooked with zucchini and spaghetti sauce. I'd never tried it before but Brian at every bite so I consider it a success that can come back.

Lots of errands to run today but I should have plenty of time if I don't go back to sleep when I get done with work. I'll see. At this point we should be done soon.

Karen - Your signature says you are 25 weeks along. Aren't you further now? Why don't you change it to post your due date? We're on Spring Break through next week in Richardson but Brian will be at his day care full time. They have lots of cool stuff planned like a field trip to Joe's Crab Shack and the Ripley's Wax museum.

Hershey and I are getting organized for Church. It is supposed to be above freezing today and tomorrow - practically balmy! The we are back to colder daytime temperatures. I am getting pretty pissed off with Old Man Winter and may be bopping him with my chicken purse where it'll hurt him the most! So no tree tapping this week for the Lads at the Long Horn. There's so much snow in my sugar bush that you couldn't walk but they'll be using tractors when it's time to tap. Syrup will be $48/$50 a gallon (4 litres) so everyone is anxious to get started.
