Default New year, new things to do

Hi all,

I have been lurking a bit partly because I did go off track a bit prior to the holidays but I have been more or less in a mode of not eating too badly and exercising when I can. I was visiting family for a few weeks which of course threw me off my schedule, but now I am back and I am getting back into the swing of things. I have kept reading various posts mostly to keep my goals in the forefront of my mind and I have to say as always, this group is very inspiritational.

I thought a lot over my vacation time about what I wanted to do when I got back home as far as food wise. I have kind of been burnt out on cooking ahead of time, storing my food, planning meals, etc. Now don't get me wrong, I think it is important to plan ahead but sometimes you just don't feel like it and that may make me lazy but it happens. Also, I have been thinking about portion control quite a bit which I am so much better at than I used to be but I am still not the greatest at. So I decided for the next month or two, I will try out Nutrisystem mostly because it'll handle some of the planning for me, help with portion control, follows my ideals of low glycemic index and is more rigid than what I have been doing. It does go against my ideal of not eating processed foods BUT I really don't plan to do it long. I like to mix things up once in a while and I'm hoping it will be a jump start to getting back onto my own thing with better portion control.

Also, I decided that I need to write things down so I started using Fitday as of today and hopefully that will last a while. I haven't received my food from Nutrisystem as of yet so it is my thang so far.

Anyway, I wish everyone a good year and lets get rid of some weight!

Welcome back

If you decide you can't stomach the NS food, take a look at Jenny Craig. Same concept, better food, more personalized support. They don't have an "online" program but they DO have "Jenny Direct" which is by mail/phone. There's always some sort of trial offer available so you don't have to buy a long-term membership.

Good luck with whatever you do ... I do think it's OK to take a break now and then as long as you know it's a break and you don't go hog wild. Sounds like you did fine and are ready to kick back in gear. Good for you for knowing what you need and getting it rather than trying to stick to something that doesn't fit right now.

welcome back. I've been where you are and had to take a break. I hope nutrisystem works for you. I don't know of anyone on here that is using it but there are several doing Jenny Craig (not sure how similar the programs are).

Thanks for everyones support.
One of my hesitations with Nutrisystem was the fact that I did used to do Jenny Craig and couldn't stand it (after doing it for a year), but I figure I can do anything for a month or two I actually initially bought the "lifetime membership" of Jenny Craig which is an "oh well" now.

It's good to see you back Nelie. I think a lot of us slacked off during the holidays. Sounds like you have a good plan in place to make the new year successful.

Nelie!!

How nice to see you back!!! I think it's good to change things up once and a while. To me the hardest part about this whole thing is finding a way to manage your weight that you can stick to for a lifetime.

Welcome back, Nelie! I'm not as present here as I used to be, but I was so happy to see that you'd returned!! I hope the Nutrisystem thing works out for you, even if it's just a jumpstart.....I just know you're capable of making anything work with your head in the game, Nelie -- I've been really impressed with you! Best to you!

Welcome back Nelie! I don't know how much it's changed over the years, but I tried Nutrisystems years ago and was quite successful on it (while I was on it anyway). My problem was that I didn't bother learning any lessons while I was on it - like portion control or the need to add exercise in to my lifestyle!

Glad to see you online again Nellie,

I lost 50 pounds on NS though it was by going to the center around the corner from house and not online. I often think about doing it again, just for the reasons you state, having the thinking done for me for a while. I was really successful and lost at least 2 pounds per week and was motivated to go to the gym every day. Just have to get that feeling back.

Go girl go.
