Default Dr. Perricone's diet

Hi,
Did anyone else see this Dr. Perricone on Oprah yesterday? He has a three-day nutritional face-lift diet. I wonder if it's for real.

I'd like your input.

i heard that name on VH1 today they were doing celebrity diets. ugh... anyway, you might want to check out vh1s site... they might have articles!??

...i say ugh b/c most of the show seemed like..."most of these stars have chefs and personal nutrionists and personal trainers and the zone drops off food to there houses...." i wonder if they really know what its like to struggle with weight loss without trainers and all that other stuff.

grumpy at the rich,

I'm not rich myself (I only WISH!) but two names pop right into my head whenever I hear (or read) someone saying that stars have it easier because they can afford trainers, chefs, etc.

Elizabeth Taylor and Oprah Winfrey.

Oprah - she's been using Bob Greene (her personal trainer) for 10+ years now. She had success at the beginning (during the Make the Connection period when she also had her spa chef Rosie), but later in the decade packed on the pounds again, although not ever as much as she did just before she started working out with Bob. She looks fabulous now IMO...but she's had her share of ups and downs.

Liz Taylor - lost a bunch of weight and got GORGEOUS and SLIM in the 80's, then launched her perfume "Passion", dated George Hamilton for awhile, wrote a weight loss book (Elizabeth Takes Off) etc. etc....but then the pounds came back...and then some, from the look of it.

Both these women have oodles of money - but still they STRUGGLE with their weight.

I could probably name more examples - Kristie Alley - she could afford to have personal 24/7 help but look at her now...and from the interviews I've read/seen on TV (she was on Dateline this weekend) she is clearly not happy about being fat, but trying to make the best of it (and benefit from it with her new Showtime project "Fat Actress"). Roseanne Barr (or whatever name she's using these days!) - got weight loss surgery and lost some weight - I haven't seen her around lately but I heard that she was not that successful at keeping the weight off - again I don't know that for sure.

I'm sure it helps to have a trainer/chef/etc., but the bottom line is...the person, be it Oprah, Liz, or whomever - still needs to put forth the personal effort and be strong!

I did try his 3-day facelift because it sounded too good to be true.

It worked.

I noticed.

My co-workers noticed.

I am medium-toned skin that is prone to chapping and redness. I also have undereye bags.

The redness went away and the bags and the puffiness diminished.

I don't believe everything I read on QuackWatch -- I've caught them on two occasions giving reviews about things that simply weren't true, because the reviewer didn't research the item enough. On the whole, though they're pretty good.

My take on Dr. Perricone is this -- what he asks you to eat certainly won't hurt anyone. It's nutritious and good for you, unlike many of the diet products out there.

His "cosmeceuticals" are outrageously priced and I couldn't afford them and if I could, don't know that I'd pay sky-high prices.

Off now to eat my salmon and berries...

Cheers!
