Unhappy

I guess no matter what the weather is like, we're just never happy...

The weather here in Toronto has *not* been condusive to exercising the last week or so. Today it's up to about 30C (yesterday was 31) and that's without the humidity. Yikes. Sooo... I haven't been exercising in the traditional sense of the word. I cannot seem to drag myself to the gym for love nor money because the thought of getting so hot, sweaty and sticky when it's already so hot outside, just drains any desire out of me.

I haven't cut it out completely, though... but it's more in the form of nightly walks, when the temp has cooled off a bit. I think part of it, too, is the desire to be exercising outside when the weather is so nice - I'd rather be out there (as hot as it is) than cooped up in a gym. Does anyone else find their energy gets sapped when the weather is like this, and what do you do about it??

Christine

Default hot weather

I execise at night when the kid have gone to bed. It has been hot here too but to tell the truth I had a great wo last night. It was so good to be soaked afterwards.. i did not work any harder than usual( same as usual on the cak burn), but the sweat poured. I drank a ton of water and I really felt like it was a toxic cleansing. I have not sweat that much in ages..... So i say enjoy it, get soaked and have a cool shower afterwards.. I t won't feel nearly as hot. and it is a great way to rid yourself of all the extra water weight.

Cheer up Christine, it's going to cool off this weekend and get back to more normal seasonal temperatures (I'm in Oakville)

How getting out in the morning, just get up a half hour earlier and do that? That's something I'm going to start doing this summer to get a walk in every day. When I lived in downtown Toronto that's what I did almost every day. When I moved to the west end I worked in the Parkdale area so I walked to work across High Park and that definitely got the exercise in.

I do karate 3 days a week and the dojo I go to is in a basement and believe me, it's nice and cool down there. It's going to be wonderful in the summer

How about a pool? Water provides an incredible amount of resitence and is great for toning muscle. And it is all quite refreshing too!
