Default Quick tip: Water

Most of you probably already know this or even do it too... but it's helped me so much, I thought I'd share it anyhow. Last week I was really concentrating on making sure I drank my 64 oz. of water every day, because prior to that -- I was just not getting it all in. So, I got myself a LARGE 32 oz. thermal mug (with cover and straw). First thing in the morning, I filled it up and just carried it around with me. Having it right nearby, I was surprised how quickly I drained it. I filled it up one more time... and I ended up drinking my 64 oz. of water all before 1 PM without even realizing I was doing it! A pretty simple (and obvious) technique, but it helped me go from drinking about 40 oz. to getting in the full 64+.

I use a 34 oz Nalgene bottle and it provides the same effect. I fill it up at least twice every day.

Does the book say that we actually need that much water in addition to what we get from foods and other beverages? Just curious...........

I don't think so but water in general is very helpful in losing weight, not only does it make you full and also gets rid of hunger cravings caused by thirst, but also helps your body function better and flush things out of your system. A general guideline is that you should drink a minimum of 64 oz of water every day.

When I checked the book Dr. A just says that although 2 to 3 quarts is the recommended water intake for dieters he just suggests we drink water when thirsty. I know sometimes people interpret thirst as hunger so we need to be aware of that.

That said, great job getting your water down and good idea. I think we probably don't drink enough water if it isn't handy for us to grab.
