Default Tasty Tuesday

I finally told my BF about my therapy (I had my last session last night). He was cool with the fact I hadn't told him which suprised me a little... Anyhoo, therapy helped a bit, kind of forces you to think about your expectations, your thought processes etc and that helped. She also recommended the book which I have called Overcoming Binge Eating by ------ Fairburn... It's more for people who have bulemia, but has a lot of relavent advice. I weighed myself this morning and my weight seems to be going south, I'll tell you how it goes tonight at WI.

Kierie: I hope YOU and your wheelchair are okay. Please tell us what happened.

Belle: I am sorry you and your BF got into a fight. Sacha has had times of tons of overtime and I know it gets lonely. I actually will be the busy one this fall. I do WW tuesday and am hoping to sign up for a running room clinic for Wednesdays. I am also thinking about taking a class as well this fall. Maybe take a just for fun class this fall or something, BUT the fact remains overtime shouldn't be a long term arrangement for your BF, but if it is, it means he might have to get a little assertive or start looking elsewhere for work. Even with extra compensation, your BF doesn't want burn-out.

Lori: Hey there!!!

KT: yup, though apparently this is one of the least busy weeks of the year for traffic.

Jen: Sure if you'd like to PM me your experience it would be appreciated

Jess: Thanks for PMing me about my upcoming procedure.

Becky, Tonya, ModLori, JenK, Jayne and whoever else may be lurking, Come out and play

Cheers!

Ali

Hey Ali!! I was in meetings this morning which is why I wasn't around. It HAS been seriously quiet. I wonder if the fall will pick up again or if it's a sign of the times. I didn't realize you hadn't told BF about the therapy. I am glad he took it really well and wasn't suprised or anything. I know DF would be OK with it too - he would encourage it. He's so skinny naturally has no concept of what it's like and doesnt' pretend to (which is good of course).

I was pretty good last night but we did eat out and I had a thai curry dish with shrimp. Today I had cottage cheese (1/2 cup) and canned fruit (1/2 cup) with no suger added and one slice toast, and for lunch I had vietnamese noodles with beef and veggies - it's prepared well, but I think it's in the 13point market.

Tonight is day #2 of my workout regime. I am doing the routine Sun/Tues/Thurs and cardio is aimed for those days plus 2 (not as structured though).

Yeah DF is burning out BIG TIME. It's really hard b/c he gets grouchy really quick and he is always tired. I feel terrible for him. I want to do something nice for him but he's never home?! We're on vacation starting Friday at noon though!! Until the 16th...YAY

Hey Belle, I hope I didn't sound rude yesterday about making the time. The problem in our house is that I am never home. I will be home late again tomorrow because we are interviewing. But I am lucky that hubby is very understanding... as long as I make an effort to spend time with him (with and without the kids).

As for the recipe... I kind of winged it. I just modified the recipe on the package a little. It was 3 quarts water, 1 bag of split peas, left over ham on the bone, some oregano, 2 bay leaves, little spoon on chicken bouillion.... simmer for 2 hours (stir at first because the peas settle to the bottom and can burn on). Then, scoop out the ham and bone and chop up. Put back into the pot (minus the bone) with some carrots and potatoes chopped up. You can also add onions when you are cooking the peas, but I didn't because Emma throws a fit about onions. Add salt and pepper to taste. Really easy to make and quite tasty. I served it with rolls and some crackers. Carbo loaded, but tasty.

Thanks for the recipe Jen - I'll try it as soon as I get a hambone!!

No, I didn't take that the wrong way I totally understand what you were saying! DF is understanding when I work OT too but it's b/c it's quite rare that I work REALLY late, or a whole weekend. I on the other hand, am quickly becoming NOT understanding b/c its all the time....I am really trying to keep my mouth shut when we aren't "talking" about it.

Balancing family/personal life and work is a real issue for many of us, eh? I guess it's the nature of our lives. Taht is why some of us struggle with keeping to our programs (eating and working out) some of the time. that is one of the first things to "fall off" the list. I know for me it is. Tonight I have to really struggle not to let that happen - it's workout night and also i Have to mow the lawn and go grocery shopping - it's a balancing act AGAIN! Oh well....

Belle, I was going through major burnout last week and felt like I was on the verge of a breakdown. I forced myself to step back and just say NO to some things, at least until I can get back in control. I ended up taking 1/2 on Friday and went home to work in my garden and clean. I worked last 2 days last week and then spent the other days working on my home busines (grandmother-in-laws former business). I felt like I was working 18 hour days. It is good that you are getting your feelings out now, because once you have kids, life gets 100% more stressful and busy. You need to take that into account now and plan for it!

Let me know if you need any advice. I not the guru of it, but God knows I have way more on my plate and still manage to stay some what sane!!!

Hey all-I am posting late b/c i have no time to post at work. eating was ok today-I started the day out with a 3 mile run-yah me!!! Then I had two choco bran muffins for breakfast on the run, so to speak-4 pts, a footlong veggie sub w/cheese from Subway-10 points, some crackers and hummus-about 3 points, and 4 oz grilled chicken and an ear of corn and some broccoli for dinner-6points (i put I can't believe on the corn)-23 points total minus my running 3 points gives me 2 extra for a 2pt WW cookies and cream bar-if you haven't tried them they're AWESOME!!!

Good luck on WI, ALI!

Jen-L-I hear you-I feel liek all of my days are on a treadmill-18 hours trying to do the FT work thing and the mom thing! I'm sure its even harder with two!! Just out of curiosity, how far apart in age are they? DH and I are asking everyone we know that question, trying to figure out when to have #2....

Belle-hang in there-maybe you guys can carve out some special 'alone' time? A special dinner or something(listen to me-DH and I never have alone time!)

Hi Kier-how was the wedding??????

Hi to everyone else!! I am going to make a concerted effort to post here regularly b/c it helps me, even if I have to post at night and have you all read this in the morning LOL!
