Sweet Muffin - you sound so down and upset

I really don't know what to suggest to you since I don't have any experience with this kind of thing. Maybe you should talk to your doctor or a counselor of some sort about this.

It's ok, Sweet Muffin. That's the biggest thing to understand. I absolutely love love love food. And I used to obsess over the 'bad' stuff alot. It's not fun. The happy news is that regardless of your eating plan (low fat, low carb, low cal, whatever) there's generally a work-around so you can have what you're wanting or something similar and not feel horrible about it. That's item #1.

#2 - Try new things that are on plan for you. Becoming an adventurous cook and eater has been one of the best things for me. I now know that there are tons of things I love more than pizza and McD's.

#3 - At some point, you have to decide who's in charge of your life. You or your body. When you decide to take charge, there's nothing like it. When I'm wanting something so bad that I want to cry, I go lift weights or go for an extra-hard bike ride. It's almost like punishing my body for being so ridiculous as to suggest that I eat something like that. Silly, but it works.

Hope that helps

Morning Muffin!

The first thing I would say is you need to find some support, some folks like you that understand what food obsession is about (I will send you a PM with some links). The other thing is to begin slowly. I know what you mean about bingeing on a healthy meal. Sometimes we need to figure out what are triggers are and what works for us. Something that might be fine for someone else will drive us crazy and make us obsessed with that food. Start slowly. It is helpful to begin with the idea that meals have a beginning, a middle, and an end. So 3 meals a day with nothing in between might be the least restrictive and happiest thing you can do for yourself. (Even if its 3 binges, as long as it has a beginning, middle, and an end) Also keeping a journal to talk about why your eating and what as well as stopping yourself before the next bite and saying, does this taste good? what is this doing for me? Often we eat because its easier to concentrate on that than our lives and what we really feel. Many prayers and hugs for your journey.

your day is off to a great start... just take it a few minutes at a time. step by step.

and reward yourself with something that doesn't involve food... computer time.. craft time... play time... yakking time... manicure,... whatever works for you!!!!

even if you have to do it in half-hour slots... as in... if i don't cave into this craving, i get to spend 30 minutes talking to my best friend.

Hi Muffin!

I just wanted you to know that you are definately NOT the only person who feels like this around food!

Pizza is my vice too - what I do now is have a low fat home made one on a Friday night, and that seems to keep my cravings at bay - plus I feel no guilt eating it, because i know it is part of my plan and i've worked hard all week for it!

The first few weeks will be the hardest for you - you have to break the fat addiction, but it will get easier.A couple of months ago I was eating 4 or 5 takeaway pizzas every week - It was hard to discipline myself to cook proper meals, and I really craved pizza - but I broke that addiction and am now happy with my low fat version as a treat.

All the best to you

Love Amanda x
