Default New Beach member

Hi, I'm a working mom from Chicago and brand new to the forum.

Three years ago I weighed a scant 115 lbs.! About 2 months ago, I weighed 163. After seeing a video of myself I was so shocked at how I looked that I started my own reduced calorie/excercise plan. I lost 13 pounds in 6 weeks BUT once I hit 150 I couldn't get past it no matter how low I cut my calories (some days only eating 800)!

My boss mentioned that his wife was doing South Beach and it had been working very well for her. I asked my husband to buy me the book for Mother's Day. After a week of reading the book (and finishing off all my Lean Cuisine lunches) I started the plan Saturday.

So far, so good. Looking forward to sharing with you all.

Welcome to the Beach! I am glad you decided to join. I have been on this for a week and have never felt better. It is a plan that works and will not resort to starvation for results. My goal weight is 115!! Eating 800 calories a day is verging on dangerous and probably put your body into starvation mode so I am glad you decided to try this.

How are you feeling? The first few days I was really hungry but now I am doing well and just making sure to eat all my meals and snacks and making sure not to go too long between meals. Also I drink about 2 Liters of water a day.

Good luck to you I am sure you will do great. Have you checked out the recipe section? They have some great ideas for phase 1. The book has good recipes too. Welcome and hope to hear more from you!

Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome. :-) I'm feeling great! Not hungry, no horrible cravings. I'm doing better than I expected.

I've never been a sugarless person, ever. Artificial sweeteners have always tasted really yuck in the past, but now for some reason it's not so bad. I also think since I had already been trying to eat healthy, though with carbs, for a few weeks before I started SB it's helping me feel satisfied. I feel much fuller with the SB menu than I ever did with my reduced calorie diet!

Traci, remember that the last pounds always seem to be the hardest. I know that the journey through the 140s will be one ounce at a time for me, but that's OK -- I think I'll appreciate it more. Welcome
