Default That'll teach me!!

Boy...my stomach was hit by a Mack truck yesterday. My only theory as to what might have triggered it....beer. I know...a no-no on Phase 1. DH and I had just finished finding a fantastic cache on a remote Maine island. We went to our favorite pub. I ordered a blue cheese burger, no bun and a salad. This place having over 50 microbrews on tap...I couldn't resist. I had 2 pints. I was fine until about 5 pm. Do you think it was the beer? It was day 13 of Phase 1, during which I have been nearly perfect.

Also...I need advice about the guidelines for buying breads. How do I know it's multi-grain? Some bread says multigrain...but it sure seems like marshmellow (i.e., like Wonder) bread to me.

Thanks!

Sorry about the beer gut problems. I could be from the brew especially if you haven't had any for a while.

On bread the first ingredient should be whole grain, not enriched white flour. I also pick out the bread with the highest fibre per slice. My multigtrain and flax bread has 18 carbs and 3 grams of fiber per slice.

Or the first ingrediant can be whole wheat flour it should never be enriched anything!
Most "wheat" breads some even "multi grain" breads have "enriched wheat flour" as the main ingrediant. This is a no-no, you may as well eat Wonder bread if you're gonna eat that because it does the same thing to your blood sugar! Good Luck! I normally buy Brownberry Whole Wheat bread. I think it tastes the best even though it is a little expensive. Since I only eat a slice or two a day I keep mine in the freezer that way it doesn't go bad.

Ugh! I miss alcohol too. My friends and I have a Thurs night after work tradition that I haven't been able to do (......bread...hmmm....I'm not back in that phase yet, but I'm hoping my Oroweat (sp?) 12 grain counts. It's the only bread I like.
