Default Steel cut oatmeal vs reg. slow cook oatmeal?

is one better for you & which one tastes better? i am a non-oatmeal eater , at least i was as a kid, & i want to try & incorporate this into a healthy breakfast option, as egg beaters & string cheese are wearing thin...

Either are allowed on Phase II only - a half cup serving. I have no idea which tastes better as I have never outgrown my childhood aversion to the stuff!

steel cut oats (or Irish oats as they are sometimes packaged--think Mc Cann's) are a bit chewier because they are not processed a bit more like the regular slowcook---flattened out, ya know? Whether or not that gives them more fiber or nutrition for each serving, I don't know. I would eat whichever one you like the texture of the best, as I think they are both great sources of GOOD carbs and fiber. I eat them both depending on my mood.

I always eat the steel cut organic oats, buy them in bulk at your local healthfood store. They have a lower glycemic index because they are not processed like instant oats and also have a chewier texture. I love oatmeal - cut up 10 almonds and 4 dried apricots and mix with cinnamon. All this is phase II, but this treat will fill you up for a few hours.
