Default TGIF in The Coop - January 23

OK - nobody should still be asleep! The coop doors are open wide and the snowy wind is blowing through. Everychick should get up now and enjoy the last day of the work week! Coffee and tea and other beverages are on the bale of straw near the door. So fluff up your feathers and set a bit!

Busy day ahead today as folks will be in and out all morning picking up tickets and posters for TVM, a reporter is coming to interview me, the new homemaker starts this afternoon and I have rehearsal tonight! Oy! Methinks I just might be overbooked a tad.

I hope everychick pops in, even just to say Hi!

P.S. Sonogrannie, I dreamed I gave you Hershey after her next litter! Don't get your hopes up but that may be a sign that a Portie girl is on her way to your loving arms.

I'm awake honest Ruth no sleeping in today Just reading up on all the things from yesterday. Awww so glad it's friday, my to do list for work is only 25 items long so it's going to be a light day . So in my haste this week with my broken car and some shinanigins at work with some of my staff (why can't they just BEHAVE!!) I wasn't tracking my ratios that closely and surprise surprise, weight won't budge. Oh well, at least I can see it right away now instead of scratching my head for days wondering what's going on. It's awful nice to have a bit of experience under your belt about this sort of thing. So in that regard, off to eat a stick of butter or two (just a joke for all the atkins wary out there )

Have a marvelous Friday ladies and keep warm!

Morning..... I'm awake, truly truly truly I am, oh Moderator, Dearest! Actually, I have only about 5 minutes before I must run out the door to see the doc - sore throat, trouble swallowing, etc etc -- gotta catch this real quick before it becomes "anything" and interferes w/ability to go to work!!! (I don't get sick days )

Ruthie... I LOVED your dream, only it probably was your worst nightmare, since I know that Hershey is like a part of you! However, I will willingly accept the metaphor (notice that I am acknowledging your theatrical activities, here!! and hope that you are right - a loving Portie girl will be coming my way.......

Tummy - good for you for recognizing it - hmmmmm, maybe I'll join you in that stick of butter? About those employees, tho, so many of my friends make the same comment. Not all of you supervisors are lucky enough to have the PERFECT employee, like me!!!!! (roflmaopimp here!!!)

Well to all of you who haven't yet checked in .......... have a great day, back later..........

A chilly good morning to all.

I LOVE Friday. I had an 8th grader walk in to morning cafeteria wearing bright, neon pink eyeshadow under her eyes and dark red lipstick. I asked if it was makeup or she had an eye condition. She said she wanted to match her shirt (which was black and red) One boy told her she had better wash her face, she was scaring him a little. She took it all in stride and with a good sense of humor. I love middle school, never a dull moment.

Have a super day!

MsSpotdog~WTG! on your babysteps! We're here if you need us! Im thinking your going to have a blast when you host at your house!

Still painting here.....and NO its not the colour we picked out. But hubby seems to think its ok. Well, Im not convinced.....its wayyyy too orange! Especially when the sun shines in the big windows! Well, we will see. If I hate enough I'll be heading over to Sears to get my money back and replacement paint!!!! I'll paint the whole damn thing over again myself if I have to! Ok, vent done.

Im still op and doing pretty good....Ive been working out everyday except sundays, and Im finally feeling energetic. After my first ski of the season, it really wiped me out...for about 4 days. My second ski wasnt as bad, but still took me about 2 days to get my energy back. This alone has convinced me I need to work a little harder on my cardio (I really hate cardio)

Im off to make breakkie and lunches........have a great day all

I didn't do much today. Just directed the furnace guy where to go (lol), cleaned the dining room and a little of the kitchen (still TONS to do there though). Then went out in this nasty weather to get my hubby's ground venison meat, then off to the store cuz the girls wanted to look at shoes (and I wouldn't have gone but I needed eggs). lol I'm in for the rest of the night!!! woohoo!!!
hope you all are enjoying your day!

Good afternoon, Chicklets. I'm procrastinating. Should be working on our company year-end but that seems like work to me. LOL
Ruth, if you're giving away PWDs, don't you think I should be at the top of the list? Mind you, they seem like very active dogs and I need one that's a couch potato, like me.

I'm still hoping my foot gets better on its own. We're off to a buffet with entertainment (Roy Orbison impersonator) tonight and I will be hobbling in my white New Balance walking shoes. Won't that look sharp with my black pantsuit? No dancing for me, I guess.

Scale is still stuck. GAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! The test strips have been in the moderate range every evening for days but still no loss. I guess it doesn't help that I haven't been able to move around much due to my sore foot but still......

Very mild here today on the Wet Coast with intermittent rain. I can never wear those cute, cozy sweaters. I'd die.

Well, I'd better get to work now. Have a nice day.

Just a quick post to let you all know I didn't post once and then disappear. I have the flu so am back to bed. Not eating on any program right now (cold like flu not the vomiting kind) as nothing tastes good and I am having honey and lemon hot tea with Hall's honey and lemon drops to keep my throat from being so dry.

Will jump in more when I feel better. Everyone have a great OP day. Sue

Sha, people who are on Atkins diet test their urine to see if they are excreting ketones. The test strips turn from light to dark purple so moderate would be in the middle. Ketones are a by-product of fat burning. I hope that helps.

Woke up depressed today. Ate a satisflying dinner, but wanted more. My dh disappeared upstairs to work on the computer, leaving me alone in the family room. I finished off the jar of peanuts (3-4 ozs.) then hit the peanut butter (nothing better than eating it right out of the jar.) I've gone out of my way to be good today, and will continue to do so, but I'm always amazed how I can suddenly become depressed when I first wake up and realized I was NOT good yesterday.

Cassidy, I don't know how long you've been low carbing but if it's been a while and if you've read the literature, you'll know that for those of us who are extremely carb sensitive and insulin resistant, overindulging in carbs can do very strange things to our bodies which, in turn, does strange things to our minds. Your overindulgence in the PB the night before triggered an excess of insulin which probably made your blood glucose go up like a sky-rocket. But, by the next morning it had crashed leaving you feeling depressed and probably craving more carbs. That's one reason why I try to avoid PB. It's a real trigger food for me and I'm never satisfied with 1 or 2 tablespoons.
Some people can add extra carbs without getting this reaction but I'm not one of them and from your description, I suspect that you aren't either. In fact, the very first time I went on the Atkins Diet back in the 70s, one of the side effects of being in ketosis was the incredible, totally amazing feeling of well-being. I'd always suffered mood swings from being on cloud 9 to mild depression. Suddenly, I felt normal. I consider ketosis to be a much better, safer form of Prozac.
