Arrow how do I get away from

I have been eating out of bordom and want to stop. Is this normal, and what should I do? I used to be a smoker and when I quit thats when I gained all my weight. Well WW is great and I've lost 20 lbs already but I seem to need to be putting something in my mouth all the time. Any advice is appreciated.

Do you have any hobbies? Try doing something with your hands thats not encouraging you to eat something. REad a book? Find something to occupy your mind.

Lynnie is right - gotta keep them hands busy. You can come here and chat and type and read. Needlepointing - anything that keeps your hands busy.

In Dr. Phil's new book he talks about only having a short period of time where you actually have to have the willpower to not eat (out of boredom) and all you have to do is find something that does not allow you to eat at the same time. I think he suggested taking a bubble bath - kind of hard to eat in the tub, or taking a walk or using handweights. I have done that lately. If I feel like I want to eat, I tell myself I have to do some handweights first and then if I'll still hungry when I'm finished I will eat something - guess what - I am never hungry when I get done using the weights.

When my husband quit smoking he would either chew gum or buy those dum dum lolly pops (they are teeny teeny) and he would have one or two of those.

If you eat, grab something healthy, fat free dip w/carrots or celery, stuff like that.

I have TMJ and can't chew gum for longer than 1 min. My jaw pops all the time. (but doesn't hurt)
thanks for all the ideas. Keeping busy is diff. the key, I've tried a couple things and what I need to do is get my mind occupied on something other than food.

Water may be the answer..drink lots...........it wont hurt you and may help!

Also WW sells a small chewy candy called fruities.the entire package is only 1 point!

Try water first!

Just an idea!

Sorry after re-reading.dont try the chewy fruit candy!

Another thought:
THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT THE MOST
INSTEAD OF WHAT YOU WANT AT THE MOMENT!
