I am on Victoza, I was on Ozempic, but my insurance won't pay for it anymore. My husband is on Mounjaro. I have a friend taking Rybelsus. Victoza is a daily shot, which I really don't like. If I may ask those who have Type 2, what injectable medications do you take (if any). Hubby and I are both on Metformin and he is also on Januvia. Hubby recently had a mild heart attack and had to have a stent put in, so we are trying to follow the Diabetic and Cardiac diet, he has lost almost 30 pounds and I am down a few, but men lose so much easier and faster than women. I think the Mounjaro is also helping his weight loss. I would ask my doctor for Mournjaro but my Medicare kicks in in August and it does not pay for it, perhaps my supplement when I get it will. I was thinking about asking her to switch me to Rybelsus or put me back on Ozempic (Medicare does pay for it). Anyway thanks for any input.
I am on Trulicity. It's a once a week injection. I haven't had any issues with it. When I first started taking it, it did provide a bit of a decrease in appetite. I started intermittent fasting and I think it helped. I did lose some weight, can't remember how much, but then I got sick so everything derailed. Just getting back on track though so we'll see.

I am so sorry you had those issues. When I finish the Victoza at the end of July I will ask to be put back on Ozempic, as my new Medicare drug supplement pays some of it. We will see how that goes. I was on it ant it really helped me. Hope you feel better soon.

Tam Tam, I have questions about Ozempic. How long did you take it? Did you lose any weight? How much? Did you gain it back after you stopped it? I wonder about it because they give it to people for weight loss but they said once you stop taking it you gain the weight back. I hope you can get back on it if it helps you.

I was on it for a few months, I did lose weight, but not this massive amount, to me it helped more with my glucose levels than with weight loss. After I was taken off of it, I did not put my weight back on, BUT, since hubby had his heart attack we are both eating better. I will try and get back on in in August since my Medicare supplement will pay more for it than the Victoza.
I think the current wisdom is that once you are on ozempic, one should stay on it unless the side effects are too difficult to manage, or it's not helping.
Most people get a lot of rebound weight gain once the appetite suppressing effect is gone.
My friend and neighbour is doing very well, her A1C below 6 for the first time in years. and over 50 pounds lost.
I guess the whole thing with it no longer being covered will cause a lot of issues for folks in the USA.
For diabetics, over 65 it is covered.
People also don't gain all the weight back when they're off Ozempic or other similar drugs either! It's been in the news a lot but it's not necessarily true.
It differs from person to person but there's some good research out there to support it
Just an update. I am on Mounjaro now as my drug supplement pays for it, they no longer pay for ozempic or victoza. My blood sugars are much better, not having side effects, thankfully, not losing as much weight as I would like.
