Default South Beach Weekend, May 27-28

Good Morning!

Time to crank up this holiday weekend! What's on your agenda?

DD and I had a great day in the yard yesterday! The blocks all showed up for the garden project and after we unloaded the trailer the guys got to work and made great progress. It's going to be really beautiful! I am excited! I successfully dug out the forsythia bush and Amy and I transplanted it in a different area of the yard. It had gotten big enough that I didn't want to keep it in the new bed. We did some other things in the yard, then headed over to the vet for the doggies last injections for their lice. After that we met my mom and sister for Vietnamese food and had a really great visit. When we got home, Amy packed up and went down to visit the cousins until Tuesday when she leaves.

It's official, DH is coming home. I was miraculously able to change his ticket to Wednesday night arriving Thursday morning and got a $48 credit. When does that ever happen. LOL. While I am sad that he just decided he didn't want to spend the summer up there with his family, it's a big relief for me down here. Taking care of everything that's going on all summer here is really difficult by myself.

So, I switch gears. My brother had successful hip replacement surgery yesterday in California so I'm hoping to go visit him near the end of June!

I go back to work today through Tuesday. For some reason the boss texted me yesterday and I don't have to work the back room either today or tomorrow. That's a huge relief for my body. I don't know who's going to work it. It should be interesting.

Other than that, not much going on. Have a great start to the weekend everyone!

Good morning, Debbie! Sounds like you had an extremely busy and productive day yesterday! I love the feeling of getting a major project going and having success. Hope you can keep on rolling today. Sorry to hear DH's trip didn't work out but it will be nice to have him home this summer.

I'm feeling a bit better but plan on taking it a little bit easy this weekend and include plenty of rest. Our forecast originally was for rain but now it looks like today and tomorrow might actually be sunny. DH and I will hit up the garden stores, replace some cukes that aren't thriving and I'm sure he will be mowing. Not quite sure what else is on the agenda.

Have a great day, chicks!

Good morning,

Yesterday evening, DD2 and I went to the Botanical gardens to look at some glass sculptures and walk around the gardens it was nice if a bit humid. On the agenda today is cleaning, we are supposed to get some bad storms in the afternoon so I might wait to clean until then and do something outside before hand. I need to start cleaning the deck even though we can't paint this weekend again because of rain I can get the prep work done. I already did back exercise and had a smoothie and now having some green tea.

Debbie sad to hear DH didn't want to stay but happy for you and not having to do everything by yourself this summer.

Beth glad to hear you are getting a bit better.

Have a great day everyone!

Looks like Mother Nature changed her mind here too. Beautiful day today.

Debbie please post a picture when the wall is done. Glad Amy was there to help you. Im happy DH is coming home. Everything happens for a reason

Pearlrose I too plan cleaning around the weather lol. Spring and summer are just too short to be indoors. Granted on really hot days I don't mind.

Beth hope you are feeling better. Enjoy the long weekend.

Isa I hope your headaches are staying away.

As for me, this morning I left a few minutes early to stop at a Memorial Day display in Cold Spring. Cold Spring is a very "Americana town" On the church lawn they have white crosses with the names of residents who served over the year and have passed. IMHO it is a beautiful tribute. I spend a few quiet moments reflecting on our soldiers lost over the years.

After work there will be no quiet at all as I am going to my sister's for my niece's 1st birthday. Truthfully I hope to miss the food and just have coffee as I am trying to be really good. I'll splurge on Tuesday for Joe's birthday lol. If the weather holds I plan on getting a few long rides in plus some much needed weeding. I did make progress on the garage yesterday. Unfortunately I don't have bulk pick up until the 23rd so there is a big pile in the center of the garage waiting to get purged.

Have a great day.

Could have sworn I posted this a.m. but must be my bride brain. Had a busy morning and am now tiddling up for the Township Celebration of Bruce's birthday. He is trying very hard to be calm, cool and collected but is still trying to decide what to wear! (He is NOT gay!) My suggestion of crews and a cotton short is now being considered. We shall see.

Good night chicks,

I had a really busy day. I went to the gym with the family this morning. The boys used the pool and hubby and I exercise. I used the gym 6 days this weeks and I noticed that my energy is on point, I also noticed that this week I didn't have to use my inhaler during my cardio. I have to give credit to my clean eating, this week I noticed that my belly is less bloated and my seasonal allergies are pretty much gone, even though there is a lot of pollen and I live surrounded of oak trees. Oh, and no more headaches, yay!!

I came home this morning from the gym and I started cooking lunch right away, then I did laundry, clean the boys room and finally made time to take a shower. After lunch we went shopping for meats and veggies for the weekend. DH wants to grill ribs on Monday and I need to be prepared so I eat the right foods then came home pretty much in time for dinner. We usually order something or eat out on Saturdays but instead I told DH to eat at home. He grilled burgers. the boys had theirs with cheese and chips and I just ate the patty with pico de gallo and some homemade plaintain chips.

It is almost 9pm here, I'm super tired. I think I will have a chamomile tea and go to bed.

Good morning,

Well yesterday did not turn out quite the way I wanted. I was blowing leafs off the back deck and somehow managed to put my right index finger in the fan blades underneath. Needless to say a trip to the ER for me. Luckily god was looking out for me and I did not break my finger, I just really bruised the tip and my finger nail is hanging on by the end so they said it would grow back. My finger is wrapped up like a mummy. So, I didn't do anything else for the rest of the day. Today need to change dressing and need to figure out how I am going to wash hair. At least my eating is still op

The severe storms past by quickly yesterday with the more damaging winds to the south of us.

Not sure what we are doing today.

Jekel I would like to go to Jefferson barracks to reflect as well

Ruth hope you enjoyed your evening

Isa glad you are starting to feel better

Ouch, Pearlrose! Glad the damage was not worse. Sounds like you will be taking most of today off from chores as well.

Yesterday DH mowed and I re-planted a few veggies. We decided not to do peppers this year; our season is really too short for them to ripen. I know that if all of the plants make it will will be over-run with tomatoes and cucumbers but the plants look so tiny when I plant them that it is hard to control myself! lol Of course last year, with the extreme heat, we had very healthy broccoli with almost no flowers and busy b. sprouts with no sprouts! I am SO glad I am not a farmer who relies on the weather for my livelihood.

Isa, it was nice of DH to grill for you; I agree, eating at home make it easier to stay OP.

Not sure what today will bring but I will be sure to be outside some since it is supposed to pour tomorrow. I will also pick some rhubarb and (finally) make something with it.

Have a good day, chicks!

Pearlrose you poor thing!!!! That could have been so much worse. Thank goodness it wasn't. Take it easy today please!!!

Isa great job this week.

Ruth I hope Bruce's birthday celebration was a huge success. Men too stress like we do about what to wear.

Had a nice time at my sister's but couldn't seem to get to sleep last night. Must have been the Bustello. Woke at 5 and said heck no stay in bed fool! Got up at 6:30. Before I started the coffee I managed to spill all the water while filling the Keurig. Dropped yogurt on the floor. Watched my tummy medicine go down the drain. I thought I need a do over. Then my buddy Ed texted at 0645 asking when I would be availble for him to pick up a freezer. He said he was taking a slow ride over (UGH). Quick shower, getting ready to shuffle the cars around and who was in my driveway. So my day is completely out of whack lol. Finally having my second cup of coffee and debating on what to do.

Hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday.

Morning Beth looks like we were posting simultaneously. I skipped planting veggies this year. I'll hit up the local farm stands this year. When I retire I am going to have a great vegetable garden and a gree house like Debbie

Good evening chick!

Today was super hot and still hot here (97F) we had a busy day, lots of walking. Went to church in the morning, then came home to have lunch then we took the kids to OldNavy the little one likes their shirts and then older one needed some shorts. DH also wanted to go to TJMax to buy a backpack then we took the boys to sketchers for shoes and last we stop a BJs and Best Buy. Any how lots of walking and the heat was not helping, all I wanted was a blizzard from DQ glad that DH didn't listen to me and we just got some water bottles in BJs. We just came home a few hours ago, DH grilled again, sausages for them and chicken breast for me. I'm glad I was able to make good choices today.

Pearlrose- ouch I'm really sorry that happened to you, but glad that wasn't worse.

Jennifer- I really hope you day got better.
Hope everyone is having a grood Sunday.

Isa wow that's hot no matter where you live. Great job getting walking in.

My day turned out great! I elected to stay home and just take it easy. Coconut begrudgingly got his teeth brushed, a mani pedi, shaved and bathed. Then I used my little foot spa and did the home version for myself. Ate super clean yet again which does make me feel better. The best part of the day was 25 fulll minutes of texting with my son. He said it was too loud to hear. Plus he can multi text a few people with his limited time. He is doing really well.

Spoke to my mom last night. My nephew Jake wants to enlist! College is turning out not to be his thing. Like me, he is their only child so I can relate to Charlene's upset with his decision. I'm sure we will be speaking soon lol. Also, even bigger news my parents are putting their house on the market when my mom gets back from Georgia. They want to move closer to Charlene (North Carolina) My mom really misses being by family (yeah that one is tough on me too). She made a comment yesterday that I will revisit Soto. She said if something were to happen to her (my mom), my step dad wouldn't be able to function by himself in VA (which is true) I just hope she is not keeping something from me. Although I don't think so I cant help but worry a little. She is 72 and he is 79. They have already packed the garage and the quilt room, met with their VA realtor and one in NC.

Time to crank up the day. Going to Joe's but want to be home early as I have work tomorrow (albeit a half day whoo hoo).

Thinking of our military personnel who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
