Hi all,

Slightly late with this week's thread - sorry. I've been slammed at work, but have been better about eating in and walking to work the past couple days. I was interested to read what you guys have written. Y'all are a busy bunch! The jar salads sound intriguing - looking forward to trying that out when it warms up a bit.

I'm not sure how this week will shape up yet, hopefully I'll be able to get on here more often.

Weighed in this morning (I do daily weights so I'm more accountable for what I eat) and I am up almost 5 lbs since the 11th. Definitely not happy about it. I've been going to the gym with my husband since my mother in law is staying with us for a month and she keeps an ear out for the kids at night while we go. Hoping that the workout we did tonight helps to shock my system into releasing some weight. I have a spreadsheet in the computer that I have been tracking my weights and I am down 1.8 lbs for the month. Definitely not a happy camper. I've been drinking more water and the end of January/beginning of February was TOM so I know that isn't affecting it. So I guess I will wait and see what the end of the month weight is. I'm hoping to hit 235 by July so hopefully, I can do this. I have been setting 5 lb weight goals and almost hit my second one and gained back.

Hi Theox, it's a pretty good accomplishment to be so busy but also stay on track with your goals! You're going to have a lot of success!

fillupthesky: I really appreciate you sharing. I've been single for a long while and realise I'm out of practice communicating, sharing and setting boundaries.

Mama_Angel: I think the up n' downs are part of the deal and that we can't let them discourage us Keep at it and you'll defs make it to 235 by July! You 5 lb increments are a great idea.

I gymed this morning. And yesterday morning. It's not how I love to spend my mornings (dancing lazily to reggae in my apt with coffee and making brunch would be best), but actually, I like having time to myself in the a.m., it isn't horrible. I just hate seeing the sun rise through glass while on a stationary bike. I miss summer, I wish I could just bike to work. This longing hit me really hard yesterday.

Following your awesome suggestions I had a cooking night on Sunday (which helped heat my place - polar vortex...) salt & pepper chicken with green olives and capers/roasted broccolli; roast dijon pork loin/braised red peppers, mango, caramelised onion; Breakfasts as usual are omelettes and cottage cheese.

The Canadian $$ is ridiculously low and my groceries are expensive. I encourage y'all to plan your vacations here

I've been bribing myself in the morning with these mini "cakes" or souffles I make using carrot puree, eggs, mollasses, cinnamon/ginger, raisins, coconut flour. Before going to the gym I have coffee or tea, and some "carrot cake" with peanut butter. I really need to do the nutritional breakdown...

Good morning all!! Look at us getting our bodies moving! I too saw an increase because of all the yummy foods over the weekend. But a whole lot of water yesterday erased the gain and I actually lost the water gain plus .8 lbs!!!. I did get up to pee like 3 times though last night...not cool. I woke up sore today from my work out yesterday and for a second starting thinking I didn't feel like working out today. I can't think that way, that behavior has caused 1 day to turn into months in the past. I do plan on taking rest days but I'm only on day 16 of my journey this time around, I'm gonna keep pushin!

Theox - Good to see somebody else busy as a bee and making time for them. You rock!

Mama - I too am a daily weigher. I see all the good, the bad, and the ugly. I've had to change my mind set this time around because even working out this weekend the scale was going up. But I knew my eating was not on point and I was retaining water. But the scale was not showing me that...until today. Hang in there!

Souvenir - Seeing a sun rise even through a glass is beautiful!!! I'm a night owl so I'm sleeping during sunrises and would love to see a sun rise while working out. Your meals sound delish!!! The "carrot cake" sounds yummy too, let us know when you do the nutritional breakdown.

Have a great day ya'll!

My "carrot cakes" with peanut butter came up to four portions, each @ 320 calories/26g carbs/12 protein/14g fat/15g sugar. I'm okay with that, given it's early morning pre-cardio workout energy. I'll probbaly cut the PB tomorrow

Recipe:
* Boil 1 small bag of baby carrots and puree with immersion blender
*Add flavour spices of choice - cinnamon, ginger, cloves and (3 tbsp) molasses, (4tbsp) coconut flour (or flour of choice) and mix well
- Let cool. Crack in 4 eggs and stir well, this gives the cake it's fluffyness
- Pour into 4 oven-proof dishes
- Bake @ 400 for approx 20 - 30 min or until the top middle doesn't look wet

Per serving:
170 calories / 10g carbs / 8g protein / 6g fat/ 4g sugar

I'd consider adding more eggs & pureed chicken , raisins and/or nuts depending on your dietary preferences. Pureed chicken may sound weird, but it's a pretty tasteless but effective protein thickener for things.
