Default So I just undid 8 weeks of work in 3 days. Yay.

I've been back here lurking for a while. I regained some of the weight I lost, and have been trying to take it back off since New Year's. It's been sloooow going--a pound a week, at best. The last three days, I was at a job where I was surrounded by food, and went NUTS. It reminds me of a quote from that book, "The End of Overeating": "It's like we are suspended in time, and there are no consequences." Indeed. So I am now up from 119 to 124.8. Disgusted head shake.

Let's put this in perspective before you start to panic. In order to gain six pounds, you would need to eat literally 21,000 calories (3500x6) above the amount of calories your body burns in a day (TDEE).

I can't imagine that you did this. Since it was food at work, I am guessing it was catered and high in salt. You likely are retaining some water and food weight.

Did you weigh yourself on the same scale at the same time wearing the same thing or nothing?

Did you truly binge?

I think it's possible I legitimately ate 3 pounds worth of extra calories. I weigh myself every Saturday, and was up 5.8 from last week. And yeah, I binged. It's almost funny, if it wasn't so sad. It was a photo shoot, and the last day was a bakery scene. So in addition to craft services, I ate about 2000 calories of props as I cleaned up. :-(

I eat probably 8,000-10,000 calories throughout the weekend (every weekend) - and the scale is always back down by Friday. I wouldn’t worry too much, binge weight usually comes off fast.

Most likely, you did NOT! Undo 8 weeks of good behavior, in a few days!

DO THE MATH! MATH DOES NOT LIE!

I know, because my DIL has a PHD in MATH!

However! Salt, salt, salt!

Get yourself right back on track of whatever it is you are doing, and move on!

Actually in order to gain 5 pounds in 3 days! I can't even imagine, that you could even eat that much with out being extremely, vomiting, back door trots ill!

Again! The math is one thing, salt is another! Take a breath! Get right back on track! It will all be good!

I've done that before (more than once, if I'm honest). I'll have spent weeks or months doing awesome, and then like 3 days doing horrible, and ALL the weight is back. It sucks. But the only way it comes off again is to keep going.

It's good you caught yourself, though. Isolated incidents like that are better than a regular pattern (like doing it weekly or something).

It happens to all of us. You can expect a chunk of it to disappear once you go back to typical eating and exercise habits. The rest is just a small setback, but you'll pull through
Don't beat yourself up about it. Just accept it, use it to reignite your motivation, and keep going!

I will quote my mother on this... "Just take my Chinese pooping tea" (She gets it from a chinese corner store)

I am not an advocate of this stuff BUT if I did indulge I do take one ONLY if I had a massive meal to purge my system of any stuff I should not.

What everybody else said. Get back on your plan and you'll shunt out what's mostly water retention fairly quickly.

I'm in the position of having done something similar (birthday celebration) but my period is due so even though I'm following my diet verrrry scrupulously, I'm having to be verrrry patient because my body is all "Haha, she thinks this water is leaving sometime this week! What a dummy!"
