Default I gave up Mountain Dew :)

I've wanted to for a long time but didn't think I could. I stopped drinking it but did not go cold turkey, I did not want to go through the headaches and tiredness. I am drinking small amounts of Pepsi, twice a day, morning and afternoon when I am needing a pick me up. I am drinking as little as possible.

Eventually I am going to wean myself off the Pepsi too. Today, I could have sworn my scrub pants fit looser. Maybe it was my imagination, I'm not sure.

This was a huge step for me getting off Mountain Dew.

Great job!! Giving up soda is hard, but it's so, so worth it. Your body will thank you for it, for sure!

I know one of the things I used to help kick the habit was zero-calorie, zero-sugar flavored seltzer water. It has the fizz and pop of soda, but none of the bad stuff. Find a flavor you like, and you may find it a good alternative to the bit of Pepsi.

Keep it up!

Good for you!!

I've been wanting to kick my coke addiction for years now (the beverage...). Lluvia, I'll have to give seltzer water a try! Does it have aspertame in it though? That stuff makes me so hungry!!

Thank you. Right now I am drinking strawberry carbonated water from wal-mart. Love this stuff, it's like drinking pop, it comes in cans.

It got to the point where I had to give it up. I was gaining so much weight drinking it. I wasn't going to let myself get any bigger.

Congratulations!! My youngest brother is addicted to Mountain Dew. Somehow I don't ever see him giving it up. Kudos to you!!

I can't drink much plain water. It has to have taste to it or I just can't. LOL So now I drink sparkling flavored water too. My favorite brands are Sparkling ICE (especially Crisp Apple and Black Raspberry. ) There's no calories, carbs, etc in the SI drinks. I love Skinny Girl too. My favs in that brand are Pineapple Coconut and Tangerine Mango. There are 5 calories and a couple carbs per serving of that brand though. I love Glacéau Sparkling Fruitwater too. There are several good flavors of that. Can't remember offhand how many calories, carbs, etc are in that brand though.

The brand I drink (Polar Seltzer) has no sugar in it at all, artificial or otherwise, so it isn't really that sweet, but I find personally that the flavoring and fizz makes up for it! You can also add your own sweeteners to it if you want to make it a little sweeter (and puts you in control of how much you add, which is nice).

@Ohiofreespirit - I haven't tried the Wal-Mart brand, but I'll give it a look... I love strawberry! Polar did a strawberry-champagne flavor in the big bottles, and I LOVED it, but it can be hard to find!

I quit soft drinks years ago, kind of accidentally, my intention was to cut back on caffeine, I read an article that said you should not have caffeine after noon or even 10 am was better, as you will sleep better, so before long I was just having my morning coffee and that's all for the day (been doing that for years now) so if I wasn't drinking for caffeine, there was really no need for soda at all. I actually lost my taste for soda, I don't even crave it anymore. This is coming from a guy who used to down a 6-pack of the dew every day.

Not saying this will work for everyone but if you crave soda because of the caffeine, maybe something to think about.

Congratulations! I know how hard it is to kick that habit. I was drinking a couple of Coke's a day and stopped completely when I made the decision to finally get healthy. Been over a month now and I don't even miss it. I have in the last week tried diet Gingerale and I find it quite good. I really dislike the other diet sodas. The only reason I tried the diet Gingerale is so I can find something to mix my Rye with. Lol. Good work! Keep it up!!!

Good job. I had a bad diet Pepsi habit for a while. I know it's not easy.
Keep it up!

Thumbs up

Congratulations! You're putting in some serious effort, and you're going to reap the benefits.

Stevia is a good sweetener, and it comes in both a liquid and powder form. They even make little packets that have different flavors, which you can get at the health food store. Just wanted to throw that out there, if you decided to try the seltzer water, or just wanted to flavor water. Tea is another good alternative.

Great job, I am working on eliminating diet coke. I like drinking water but I still crave diet coke.

Oh my goodness! Congratulations! I wish I could do this so bad but I think it would be so hard for me. I am totally addicted to Mt. Dew and have been for so long. Any kind of caffeinated drink, I am addicted to really but mainly Mt. Dew because it is my favorite. I bet I would lose weight faster if I stopped drinking it too. I could at least try soon and your post inspires me to do so slowly. Thanks for sharing your success!

Congratulations to you! On both the quitting the soda and the weight loss. I recently quit diet soda and I know how hard it is to stop the caffeine train
