Default Points Question

You can pretty much eat what you want as long as you don't go over your points for the day right? And as long as your not using all your points up eating candy bars lol

Correct, but I'm a firm believer in if you want a candy bar, eat a candy bar. Track it and count it.

I'm with SoMuchFattitude. The whole reason I am doing weight watchers this go is precisely so that nothing is off limits. I have found that when I try to tell myself I can't have something.. I end up craving it really bad and binging. Sometimes I binge on other things to try and get the craving to go away, sometimes I just ignore it until it gets so bad that when I see the thing next I just eat a ton of it. If I just eat the thing to begin with then that doesn't become an issue.

I've also found that having nothing off limits reduced my cravings for items too. When I first started I was eating one of the WW ice cream bars every night, sometimes two in a day. Now that I've sort of settled in, and I know they aren't going away it's not uncommon for me to have one once or twice a week instead.

Well, you are supposed to follow the Good Health Guidelines. I don't always do them all (the dairy is a problem for me as milk makes me queasy), but they are a good general guide to getting good nutrition.

As far as candy is concerned...it is not off program to have a candy bar. You can have a candy bar and still be on program if it fits within your points.

That said...I've found a progression in how I do on WW. At first I really loved it that I could eat candy. I knew I didn't have enough "room" in my points to eat a full size candy bar very often so I had a fun size Snickers bar almost every day.

At some point, I realized that wasn't so healthy so I switched to the WW snacks ... still food without much nutritional benefit but not quite as bar for me.

Since then, I've moved to eating snacks that provide some nutritional benefit for me...at least the vast majority of the time. So I eat 70% or more dark chocolate (a very small piece -- 2 points) or I eat berries or I eat pistachio nuts and so on.

Yes, I occasionally eat just the regular kind of candy (I ate some left over Christmas candy just this evening and tracked every bite of it). But most of the time I want to spend my points on food that is real food that gives me some nutritional benefit. It's been quite an evolution for me.

I just answered this question in your other post, so I'll copy and paste it here too lol.

I believe that is correct: you can eat anything you want as long as you stick to the plan. I have lost an average of 1 pound per week (almost 20 lbs so far!) while sticking to the plan and have not done one drop of exercise... but I sure have eaten my pizza

Just make sure you are very honest with your tracking. There were times when I'd sprinkle on a little extra cheese or something without tracking... thinking nobody would know.. but my scale knew! Now I make sure to track everything accurately. Get a flat scale (for items like chicken) and measuring cups, that should pretty much cover anything you'll need to measure. Good luck!

Stick very strictly to the plan and it will work

ALSO... to add to that post... I've found that the longer I've been doing this, the less I need to feel satisfied. I could eat a whole bag of ghiradelli chocolates in one sitting prior to WW, now if I really need chocolate I'll allow myself one square (2 pp).. but I take the smallest little rabbit nibbles, lol. I found that I'm craving the taste, not the food... so the longer I make it last, the more I've satisfied the craving!

Same goes for everything else. WW suggests taking sips of water in between bites... I found this to be a pain at first, but now I do it with everything I eat! I find I get fuller quicker, crave less, and am satisfied longer in between meals. So, there are my biggest suggestions: track everything accurately, sip water in between bites (I actually prefer Crystal Light, but whatever works), take smaller bites, and when you do eat those "bad" foods, allow yourself to truly savor what you're eating.. enjoy every moment of it and make it last as long as possible.

I feel like that sounds weird, but hopefully you got my point lol
