Default Terrific Tuesday Beach Chat 10/28

It is a terrific day, my mom arrives today. The last time I saw her was May. I like stealing her from my step father It is a quick visit as she goes home Friday. At least I am only working until 4 on Thursday so we will have a little time together.

But before she arrives.....bank, DMV and last minute touch ups.

Quick coffee then I am off running. Hope everyone has a great day

Good morning. The coffee is ready but I'll be sipping on the fly since Paul, my cousin/contractor, is coming at 8 to talk roof replacement and also about getting rid of my 1967 wall-to-wall carpet! I see a lot of chaos in my immediate future. The carpet was there when we bought the house in 1983 and is much the worse for wear! The roof is the immediate worry though.

On another front, I finally had "the talk" with Donna and she will no longer be cleaning for me. I don't think she has been here since may or June. This afternoon, Michelle is coming to check me out although she's known me since she was a teen. (They lived next door.) She only has one time slot left but that may change. She can't fit me in until November 20 but is worth the wait. She has a very good reputation and can do a lot in four hours. Whew!

Gotta do a quick tidy before Paul gets here as he will be measuring the house for hardwood floor replacement since under the carpet things are in bad shape. Sounds like an expensive winter ahead.

See you all later.

Good morning!

Have a great visit with your mom, Jennifer! Those few days are going to fly by!

Ruth, it's kind of sad that Donna won't be coming to clean anymore, but I hope Michelle does an even better job and is much more reliable. Good luck with your price quotes for your new roof and flooring!

I'm expecting to have one of the girls home sick today. Audrey had chills and fever when I left last night, although she said she felt OK. There won't be much peace and quiet for her to rest if she's at home, though, with all the hammering and sawing going on, and the portable generator sounds like a jackhammer when it kicks on. This renovation will be going on for several more weeks yet, they hope to be finished by Thanksgiving.

Other than that, it's supposed to be a blue & gold day today, and I hope to get outside for a bit to enjoy it.

Good morning, chicks!
Jennifer, have a great time with your Mom. It's nice to be able to have some one on one time with her.
Ruth, it's been about 3 years now but we replaced 20 year old carpet with wood flooring and I still admire it all the time. I mean, who chooses light blue with pets and kids?! (the previous owners, that's who) The carpet was at the point that shampooing it only made it a lighter shade of gray. Anyway, hopefully your chaos will be well worth it.
Cottage, hope you get a chance to be outside a bit today. I am trying to stop and enjoy the last nice days we get before the s*#@ comes.

Got to fly! Have a great day all!

Good Morning

Jennifer, enjoy your time with your mom!

Ruth, the great thing about messy projects is getting them done! Yay for starting them, too!

Linda, I hope Audrey isn't too sick and that your day goes smooth!

Beth,

I'm off to fold laundry and get my smoothie made. I got lots done this morning but work approaches fast. Last night we got home late and I went out and picked my last 4 sweet peas. They are sitting in the kitchen in a small vase. Good thing...it was 28 degrees this morning.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning!

I got home yesterday from another fabulous spa trip. Only bad part was the cold I picked up but it held off major symptoms until my last day. Once my SIL gets it to me, I'll post a photo of me doing aerial yoga. It was so much fun! Also loved aqua zumba. Didn't gain any weight (thanks to lots of exercise and "healthy" food) but had a stomach ache much of the trip probably due to the quantity of gluten and treats I ate. Guess my body is telling me something.

Playing catch up today. Have to get groceries and do some menu planning for the week. My mom is making me chicken soup for my cold

Did I miss anything important while I was gone?

Hi friends,
Sounds like everyone's day is shaping up nicely. I'm at work and then at lunch I'm participating as a control in a Parkinson's disease eye movement study. I got on the list of the Fox Trial Finder and this trial matched up as it's in the city. So I will take a bit of a longer lunch but that's ok.

The situation with my parents is grim as they won't accept any help. I met with my priest yesterday to get support. He suggested I check out Al Anon for some help and support in letting go of feeling I need/can change them. I'm going to do that, or at least read some books.

Had a successful Phase 1 day yesterday and working towards another today. This at least is something I CAN control. Hope everyone has a great one.
