Red face It's not a new haircut I really want!

I've been wasting hours of my life lately trying to choose a new haircut and tonight it hit me - it ain't the hair that is troubling me!

It's been a long time since I went "on diet" and I'm not even sure a "diet" is what I'm going to do. But I do know I am carrying 40 or so kg I don't need, that anything that involves bending over leaves me breathless and that more than anything in the world I want enough energy to really get in and play with my kids!

So - tonight I've started. Step 1 is saying hello to you all. Step 2 tomorrow morning will be finding out just how big and scary the starting number is. Step 3? I don't know yet. But as long as I hit send now I will be committed to working that out.

This is a great place for inspiration, motivation, and venting frustrations. :-)

Hello and welcome! I can totally identify with your desire to be able to play and run around with your kids. I am an older mom with younger children and it's really disheartening how much I huff and puff, or even just plain sit out, when I'm trying to do physical activities with them. Getting healthy and comfortable is my major motivator. You'll find plenty of support here. Good luck to you

Thanks Kaitie and Toowicky - seeing your replies this morning was really helpful

I am so glad I posted last night because this morning when I woke up I was all ready to run away again until I remembered it was too late - I'd already committed myself!

So I did step 2. 106.4kg. Not the heaviest I have ever been so that's good news that I am turning it around sooner than I have in the past.

Step 3. Did some thinking on this before I went to sleep tonight. I have always had a big thing about the most important thing in any weight loss being about getting your head right. Knowing what to eat and not eat is the easy bit. Making yourself do it and keep doing it is really really hard. So I searched on "mindfulness" in here (I have used mindfulness very effectively to address other life challenges) and I kept coming across the Becks Diet solution board. So I just bought the book (gotta love technology - in the land of e-books I can't use that "but I will have to wait till I get the book" delaying tactic!) and it looks like it might suit me. So now I think I might go and say hello to the folks on that board.

Default Hello back

Hey Lilith,

Thanks for saying Hi! This does seem like it is a good space to share the highs and lows. How long have you been joined up?
