Thumbs down Carbs and Fiber

Hi Everyone

Hope you are all doing well, still going strong since Friday, but have a question.

When you count your carb intake, do you count the total carbs, or do you subtract out the fiber and count the net carbs?

Just wondering, as I have been counting total carbs, but a lady I work with who follows Atkins subtracts out the fiber.

Any input would be great!!

Default net carbs???

I believe with Atkins, they deal with Net Carbs...which is where the fiber is subtracted out..... If you look on the Atkins website ( www.atkinscenter.com) there is a carbohydrate gram counter there, and it clearly illustrates this concept.

The total carbs, fiber are listed....the fiber is subtracted and you are left with the net carbs which is what I believe you should be counting in your carb daiy total.

Yeah, fiber passes through your system without any effect on your insulin and therefore can be completely subtracted out. This is not to be confused with other products that SAY you can "subtract out" things like sugar alcohols and stuff - those are to be wary of.
