Default Socks and Shoes

So this morning...I sat in a chair in my bedroom, pulled my foot up over my knee and put my socks and shoes on. Like a "normal" person. I can't tell you the last time I could do that. I don't even know why I tried it this morning...I just decided to. I almost cried.

For so many years, I had to sit on a bench, bed or something similar so I could sit kind of sideways to get at my feet. Trimming my toenails was a huge challenge. I worried about getting in a situation where I would need to take a shoe and sock off...how would I get it back on? I was so embarrassed about it.

There are so many of these daily hardships that just crept up on me one by one by one. I'm shedding them now....one by one by one.

Congrats!!!! It's an awesome feeling that some people will never understand!

I finally wear sneakers that have laces since I can stop anytime anywhere (in a store, on the street walking, anywhere!) and tie them if I have to. It's been a long time...

That's awesome!

My big revelation was when I could sit cross-legged on the bed. I hadn't been able to sit like that in more than a decade!

So true about how we've slowly given up aspects/functions of our body without even realizing it (or not realizing it right away).

Great NSV!!

I totally understand. Been there myself. Now days - I've enjoyed this particular mobility so much, I've started painting my toenails again Congratulations!

Congrats! I know how truly amazing that is!

Before long you'll be able to paint your toenails.
I enjoy going for a pedicure if I have the time, but it was a huge NSV when I could comfortably paint my OWN toenails!

What a great victory! I have experienced those, too, such as sitting cross legged (criss cross applesauce!) and crossing my legs nicely rather than propping an ankle on my other knee. It's so great to have such victory! Congrats!
