Default Things I Miss - and What I Substitute

Here's the deal.

After only 1 week I am starting to yearn for certain things that I'm just not eating right now. I'm starting to find some substitutes and wonder what others of you may have come up with.

For Example:

I really miss morning OJ.
So I have substituted Cyrystal Light Tropical Passion

I really miss potato chips and Nachos.
So I am substituting (on occasion) fried pork skins (rinds) and a great guacomole dip and salsas.

I miss popcorn.
I am substituting macadamia nuts.

What I am still yearning for:

Cinnamon raisin toast
Fruit Smoothies

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

this thread is a great idea! some of the things that you mentioned don't fall into my diet, but here are some of my substitutes...

i miss yellow (spanish) rice, so i substitue steel cut oats. i put in all the seasonings, and cook it the same way, and it tastes the same, but it's healthy for me!

i find that steel cut oats (like tofu) take on the flavor of your seasonings, so you can make just about anything with them.

fruit smoothies. i sometimes use them for breakfast when i don't have time to make anything. i forget the proportions for the fruit, but i think it's around 1/2 cup. i add a scoop and a half of soy protein powder, a teaspoon of olive oil, and a package or two of splenda, and that's my whole breakfast.

Dont know if this will help for the raisin toast cravings but it sure helped me when I was missing my beloved cinnamon pop tarts.

I would use a WASA cracker and spread cream cheese mixed with a little Splanda and cinnamon. This was a wonderful treat, crunchy, sweet and a touch of cinnamon. I loved having this with a cup of coffee just I would have eaten a pop tart.

Try it I bet you'll like it....
