Smile New to 3FC and looking for direction

Hello everyone. I'm new here and would love to get your input on diet plans, books, etc to help me get back on track. Actually I don't think I was ever ON track but now need to FIND a track.... Dont get me wrong. I've tried everything. I don't know what I want to do to get back in shape but I know what I don't want. I don't want to count calories. I am pretty good at black and white plans as long as they are healthy and don't cost a fortune. A weeks worth of groceries should not be two pages and $500.00 for 1000 calories a day! Agreed? I eat pretty healthy because I want to feed my daughter well. I wish I could say I wanted to do it for myself but I gotta be honest. I don't move much because I'm uninspired although I know exactly what I should do. I have had trainers, nutrition classes, but I think I just need something to "click".

One of my trainers told me that weight loss should cost less than getting fat and exercising is FREE. So I fired her and I'm going on my own! With your help! I look forward to hearing what works for you

First of all let me say that your name is why I'm overweight. Lol. My cousin lost over 125 lbs on the Dukan diet. It's a diet that dr Pierre dukan developed in Europe. It's a high protein low carb low sugar and low fat diet. There is no counting anything. Food is unlimited. No measuring. There is no reason to be hungry. I've been on it since feb 14 2012. It just made a year. I've lost 50 lbs. I've dropped 6 sizes. It works well for me because I'm a meat eater. I've tried all kinds of diets over the years. This has worked well for me. I got the book from Walmart. It's called dukan diet. There is a website that you can put in you weight age number of children you've had and how many diets you been on and they give you a realistic goal weight and how long it should take to reach goal. It's free too. They will ask questions and emmai you the results. Research it. See if its for you. Good luck. Just another thing. When I got off the sweets and carbs I stopped craving them. It was amazing.

Wow I must say I'm impressed!! And you're not going to believe it but...I own that book. I can honestly say I have not given it much thought and don't know where I got it but going thru my pantry yesterday I found it! I will definitely be dusting it off now. It's a sign!! And I completely understand about the cravings. I did Atkins one time and lost all cravings but I ended up on a shameless spiral of bacon and steak! I'll do it different this time. Thanks for the heads up Let's keep in touch. btw I love Louisiana! Lived in NOLA and can't wait to go back!

Hey Deb,
I'm glad I could help. It's the best I've ever been on. I'm very happy with my results. My husband thought it was just another diet that I would give up on in 3 weeks. Surprised us both. If you lived in new Orleans then you know about cajun food. Our world is all about cooking Cajun food and it's very fattening. I just didn't go hungry. The key to it is have extra cooked food when your wanting something. I freeze a lot of small servings of cooked vegetables and meats. Let me know what you think. Let me know if you have any questions about dukan.

Yes the food was great! Back then I didn't have to work too hard to keep it off but now....I'm going to the store tonight to get started. I will have to get back in the meat mode. My daughter is practically a vegetarian and I have gone that way a little which is why the carbs have crept back up on me. Pasta is SO easy to fall back on. And I have a little tiny gall bladder issue that reminds me to stay low fat. I do have a question. I haven't got very deep into the book but I want to jump on board so tell me, can I use a marinade for the beef I cook during the attack phase? maybe a soy sauce or something? I can get by without if I have to.

Thanks again Cajun

I am also a Dukan dieter and I have to agree that I think it might fit your needs in terms of being very structured and not involve a lot menu planning.

I did it in 2011 and lost 65 lbs in 6 months. Unfortunately, I stopped doing it - which is MY fault, not the fault of the diet - and I gained back almost 60 of what I had lost. I started again on Jan 6 of this year and am down 15 lbs.

I find it very easy to follow and I am eating foods that I really like.

I never signed up for the online coaching - it would have been about $300 for me (it goes by how much you have to lose) and while I think you get a lot of support for that money, I chose to do it on my own, with the support here at 3fc.

Good luck and if you have any questions about this plan, I am more than happy to answer them.

And you can check out the Dukan thread here

Deb I do use some of those things but I did stay away from them on attack. They are high in sodium and that could hurt you. It's a tolerated item on the cruise phase. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Thanks again Cajun. I'll stick with my garlic powder and such! I've been reading the book and getting a better idea of what to do. I've got this! ha.... Thanks for the encouraging words.
