Default Who Has Seen The Documentary Food INC

Today I watched Food INC on Netflix and was actually disgusted with the food industry. It really did open my eyes to where our food is coming from.

Has anyone else seen this? What are your thoughts?

I've seen it, along with a lot of other information from Michael Pollan. I was already aware of a lot of the facts about the food industry from previous studies, but this really does wake you up to what is going on. The more I see of this, the less processed food and meat I eat.

Edited to add: Oops I did not realize I was posting in the 20s thread... I definitely don't belong here. The topic just grabbed my attention as I too am quite interested in studying this.

I saw it, I couldn't believe it!! I tried to do some research to see if the UK food industry has similar problems, but couldn't find any info. Does anyone know any?

I was so shocked by the documentary though!! How can people accept it?!

I had to watch it for a Life Fitness class. It is way too biased. They only showed the worst places and definitely skewed "facts".

Yes. A lot of the documentaries I have been watching are done by people in the UK. The problem is becoming severe there also.

I had done a lot of studying before on the food industry, and the processing methods and food standards are appalling. Check out what is IN the feed they are giving to the animals we are eating. It is beyond disgusting.

Yeah, a while back. I realize it was probably, as white said, a little skewed and exaggerated..but shocking none the less.

Luckily the whole "organic" thing is still going strong as normal grocery stores carry lots of these types of products. People have definitely been informed and are well aware.

Still, it blows my mind how a product in its natural state is more expensive than it's doctored, high fructose corn syrup counterpart? I heard in passing a while back about a farmer feeding his cows CANDY, because it was affordable. Moreso than say, corn or whatever. Amazing.

This country is all kinds of messed up. The world, even.

It did show the worst of the worst compared to the best of the best (IMO, of course) The fact remains that Monsanto is an evil corporation that is killing every small farm it can through it's GMO seed patent crap.

There's definite bias, every film maker has an agenda, but it highlights facts already in evidence. Another good one is "The weight of the nation" which touches on a lot of the same things.

I'm blessed with small farmers in the family, so I'm getting grass fed beef and free range chickens, and because it's always been a part of my life, I can usually taste when I'm eating a hormone/chemical cocktail (you would have thought that would have stopped me from eating everything in sight, but alas...)

At the end of the day we screwed ourselves six ways from Sunday. We mass produced cheap food to feed the masses, and now the masses need a massive amount of health care.
