Well nice to know about a good forum for chatting.
I guess I will introduce myself.
I'm a fairly active female (27yrs old) and have always been overweight, but active. I have just finished my 4th triathlon, I play beach volleyball and hockey as well. But I cannot seem to get myself out of the 180-190lbs range. Even with being active.
I feel like I'm always the fat girl doing things, and I'd love to tone up and just trim. As far as a short/medium term goal, I'd love to lose 20-30lbs by the New Years. Just needing to keep myself motivated. And with good ideas to work it out!
I work shift work, and so I just cannot figur out how to eat for night shifts, and how to eat after work. Often days (like today), I never even got a break until 4pm (from 7am), so I went quite long with no food. Ate then, but then when I got home I was just starving (and I want to eat my own limbs).
I am active, and do stuff each day (but I could do more).
As for my daily diet, its not perfect, but its good. I eat lean proteins, lots of fruits and veggies, not too many carbs. Usually home make everything, including some healthy snacks (as I do love snacks).
Same boat here, 27, really active, not losing the weight you'd think I'd lose despite all the activity. I do 2 hours of sports 4 days a week (pretty demanding sports too, gymnastics and handball), and I am on my feet most of the day at work, you'd think I was a waive by now, alas...
I cleaned up my eating, stopped with the unhealthy and unnecessary snacks (I liked a choccy bar or two, here and there... ok, maybe daily) and lost about 15 pounds since, but I have now been stuck at around 150 for a few weeks and nothing is moving again.
I say, maybe write down everything you eat (or use one of those nifty apps that counts calories for you) for a week or so and see how much you are really eating, then tweak that to be lower and you should start losing it. Or so I am told!
Have a lovely day, Mila
I have one of those apps on my phone... And funny enough --- I have been under my allotted calories each day for weeks now (but still eating a decent amount of calories). And still, nothing.
Although, I do not count one day a week. I feel like living life and having fun is also quite important. But I've been told one cheat day shouldn't make a difference.
But this week I've started insanity (as I really don't do that kind of stuff, and there is more strength training in it than I ever do). So maybe that will change things.
I have never heard of insanity... what is it? My coach added a lot of strength training to my usual routine to "get me fit", and I am hating and loving every minute of it.
I stay under my calories for weeks at a time and see no change and then suddenly I relax and eat a little more losely and I see a dramatic change... it is weird! And I totally agree, life is for living, so I am not going to a) wait to be thin to do certain things and b) stop myself from enjoying a drink, a sweet, or a lovely meal here and there. Just maybe not daily!
