Default Do You Revert Back to Your "Fat" Clothes With a Gain?

This week my eating has been off track due to a crazy schedule and I have gained a few pounds. I have found myself yesterday and today wearing some of my "fat clothes" because I feel so bulky. I know that these clothes make me look bulky too. I have given away most of my clothing from my higher weights, but I still have some shirts in my closet that I tend to wear when I am feeling fat and have gained back a few pounds. Yesterday, my youngest son asked me why my tummy was so big when there was no baby in there! I haven't heard that kind of remark from a kid since last year. I think it was the shirt I was wearing. Or maybe it was just my big belly?

Does anyone else revert back to big clothes when they gain a few pounds or am I the only one with this bad tendency?

LOL no you are not alone. I have a set of clothes (comfy top and oversized, loose combats) that always come out during TOTM and other assorted fat days. Perfectly normal, I reckon

I gave them away so I am not even tempted. I thought if I kept them it ws like an insurance policy that I might need them again.

I keep all of the fat clothes. I'm not confident enough and I don't trust myself in that I will keep the weight off, so I need to be re-assured in that if and when the weight shows up at my door step knocking, kicking and screaming to get in, I will hesitantly be awaiting but not wanting to open the door.

In the past, when I've lost large amounts of weight, I got rid of the fat clothes. But then I would gain it back and have to go out and buy more! It was expensive. This time around I feel like it's different and I *could* get rid of the fat clothes, but so far I've held on to them...I almost feel like it'll jinx me if I get rid of them! I know that's ridiculous.
I don't revert back to them if I regain a bit...I stuff myself into my current clothes, and if they are feeling a little tight, I consider that my punishment! lol

I donated most of my fat clothes, but I have a pair of jeans one size up that i always slip into whennim feeling bloated or have been off plan for a bit too long.

I haven't lost enough to get rid of all of my fat clothes, yet. I still wear them occasionally whether I feel fat or not, just because I'm out of my smaller stuff to wear, and they still fit OK enough. I usually feel kind of frumpy when I wear them.

But, yes, to answer your question, when I've put on a couple of pounds or if I'm just feeling fat, or if I'm retaining water I will choose those looser clothes over the tighter ones. I don't want to feel uncomfortable. Today is case in point. I haven't gained anything, but I can feel the water retention and I feel big. I'm wearing loss, comfy clothes today.

I hate those innocent comments from kids! They don't mean any harm, but it stings! My daughter told me she liked sitting on my lap because I'm squishy, once.

I think that, no matter what our weight, many of us have comfy clothes that we wear when we're feeling poofy. I don't like really tight clothes so, most of the time, a few pounds doesn't make a difference. As long as you're not wearing the bigger clothes to punish yourself, it seems like it isn't a big deal.

At my age, I don't wear anything as tight as I did 40 years ago, so I guess my clothes are all comfy clothes. But I gave every stitch of clothing away that was too big except for a pair of size 24 jeans. I absolutely DO NOT want clothes to fall back into. NO WAY. I worked too hard to take it off and the day something feels too snug is the day the "diet" starts.

I feel that what we are all doing is a lifestyle. I've said more than once, though, that a diet is what you do to drop a few pounds to look better or to make your clothes fit better. So - - - if my lifestyle gets out of control for a long enough period of time that my jeans are snug, I plan to diet the few pounds off. So far (it's been 9 months) so good.

I think this may be slightly off-topic, but I am amazed at how much better I feel about my body when I'm taking care of it. I am "down" to 262 pounds or so right now, and that's much higher than the last time I lost a lost of weight and started at 245 pounds. Yet, I feel much better about my 262 than my "haven't-started-trying-to-lose" 245. I find myself wanting to wear more flattering, better fitting clothes. And I like it. A lot.

I feel the same way about my body.

I have lost 40lbs so far and I can fit in a size 8 on my skinny days and size 10 on most days. My clothes fit perfect. I love the 8 sizes because it makes me feel good about my body being as though I have pushed myself to do those extra miles walking or jogging or cycling. When I am in the size 10, I feel like I have more work to do when I do my cardio. I love fitting in the size 8's.

My fat clothes reappear every month for TOM since I bloat like its my job! I bring them out on random days to, something about the big bulky over sized clothing is so comforting!

I have NO fat clothes, I refuse to allow them. As soon as something is too big it goes out of my house or at least into a box to go out at a later date. Then if my pants get tight and for some reason I didn't catch it in my daily weighing, I immediately correct my gain until everything fits again. Otherwise, what is to stop me from ever larger sizes to get 'comfortable' again?

It's a good built in fail safe, a last resort, if my other stopgap measures of weighing daily and maintaining in a window are failing.

I'm facing this issue right now. I did give away my REALLY FAT clothes, but I've kept three small boxes of nice clothes I can wear if I gain up to 25-30 pounds. On the one hand I'm thinking I should give them away so as not to have the "insurance policy" you mention, and on the other hand I fear I may tempt fate by arrogantly assuming I won't be needing them again!
