Default Potential Bulimia...I think. Help?

So, I've surpassed my sickness. Though, I've been battling this problem for a LONG time. The problem is, if I eat a meal (and not even a big meal), I have to throw it back off because it makes me nauseous. I just sits on my stomach and it's just horribly, horribly uncomfortable so I have to be sick in order to feel better. I don't eat fast, I chew slowly, I drink water, etc. So what can I do? I don't like this...

It sounds like it could be a medical condition to me, that you will need professional help to deal with it.

Are you under psychiatric care for Bullemia? If you aren't, I would make finding a psychiatrist my first priority, if I were you. You say you've overcome it, but food still makes you ill. Is it psychological or physical?

Have you seen a medical doctor? Perhaps there is some physical reason why you feel ill after a meal. There are medical conditions that can cause digestion problems. Maybe you should start with a full physical work up and then consider seeing a gastroenterologist. Perhaps and allergist too.

Are you forcing yourself to throw up? Like putting a finger down your throat type deal or is it just naturally coming back up from not sitting well?

Is this happenning EVERY meal, every time you eat something or one meal a day or certain meals?

If you are forcing yourself, then yes, that might be cause for concern. If its something that is just happening, I would take a good look at what you're eating.

In any case, throwing up frequently can cause damage. Are you able to talk to a medical professional about this? I would highly recommend that.

Good luck!

I do force it because it's physically uncomfortable. No, I'm not under psychiatric care, but I can certainly look into it. I'm just too worried to tell me mother..I don't want to make her panic. She doesn't even know about this.

I have problems with nausea. I went to a gastroligist and he scoped and I had lots of erosion. I produce too much acid, even though I don't get the heartburn feeling, just nausea...sometimes the smell of food makes me want to vomit. I only get that way when I forget to take my pills now. I never had any other kinds of symptoms, just the nausea. Please go to your doctor and get checked out.

I know that you are under 18 and living at home, so I think it is imperative you tell your mom.

I think if you explain it the way you did here it would be just fine, but you definitely need to see a doctor. I would just go to your normal doctor and explain things. There may be something medically wrong that needs to be looked at.

I think you should talk to your mom too. It seems like you've been going through a lot lately! I really would urge you to speak to your mom and get into the doctor to talk about what has been going on.

Not all purging behavior indicates bulimia, it is more complex that than. Sometimes after being sick I have a very sensitive gag reflex and the feeling of my stomach being stretched back out creates a vagus nerve response that is uncomfortable/nauseating/overfull. That can be dealt with by a doctor and doesn't indicate a psychiatric condition. But even if you were dealing with bulimic issues and thoughts, a doctor and your parent are still going to be the absolute best help to you.

I think it's very important for you to talk to your mom and your doctor. If you're eating a healthy diet, you shouldn't feel nauseated unless there is a medical reason for it. Listen to the advice from those who had similar problems. I think the fact that you come in here often and are willing to talk to all of us about these things indicates a pretty healthy attitude over all. I'd say it probably isn't bulimia, but better be safe and see what might be causing the problem. Good luck and keep us posted.
