Default I am under 200 pounds! Anybody struggle with denial?

Hello all my fellow weight loss companions! I decided to put up a post in celebration of my recent victory of weighing in under 200 pounds this morning...I am beyond happy about this, but am having some sort of weird struggle in that I cannot convince myself that I am actually now a size 16 and can no longer be in an 18. I have been clothes shopping and head straight to the 2x or 18's and have to re-think and go for the XL and sz 16 (in some cases 14). Why is it that I cannot get my brain to realize where I am? And for a few seconds I stand there thinking I am never going to fit into these clothes and then they slide right on! Anyone else have this struggle or is it just me? If you have, does it ever change? I'd really like to put size 18 out of my head forever, but it refuses to leave!!! I've lost 30 pounds so far...

Congrats! It may take time but you'll adapt and remember your need for a new smaller size eventually

Congrats!

I am willing to bet that we all have at least a low level of body dysmorphism (where we see ourselves differently than we really are). I know I couldn't believe how huge I look(ed) in photos, because I didn't seem that big in the mirror. I have finally been able to start loosing the weight and it's hard for me to see just how much I am now swimming in my old clothes... until I see the photos. So, I have learned that if I really want to take an objective look at myself, I must take a photo.

I can totally relate to you! It is so difficult to get my brain to say "Oh yeah feet, you want to go to that rack over there"! It took ages, but now I can finally shop in the same sections with my girlfriends who are tinier than me. Congrats on the success though!

Oh totally, all the time!!

I still grab completely wrong sizes for myself. It's a strange feeling.

I definitely still head over to Plus Sizes out of instinct even though I've been under 200 for more than 6 months now. Sometimes I even get annoyed that something cute in Plus Sizes isn't in the average sized departments! There's a change I'm not used to!

You are not alone. Congrats on sliding on down the scale!

Congratulations! I understand EXACTLY how you feel! I haven't noticed a big change in the way I look since losing 20 pounds. But, I bought pants the other day and had to grab only a LARGE instead of an XL in almost four years!

I wish you the best of luck with moving down the scale further!

Congrats, that's a HUGE milestone!

I think I have the opposite kind of denial - where I think I should be wearing 10s when I am actually in 14s. I finally had to come to grips a little more when I was trying on bathing suits... I ended up with an 18 in order to fit my boobs in. It's the first time I had ever bought from the plus sizes. In the same week, I was taking pics of my daughter and her friends for prom, and someone took a pic of all the parents - I was shocked that I was that big. I think this - along with seeing a friend lose weight super fast - is what finally motivated me.

Now I'm down 13 pounds and feeling so great. I'd love to say I look great too but apparently I think that no matter what! :P And I'm only halfway kidding!

Yes! Photos are totally showing me how I really look too. Maybe carry a current photo of yourself in your purse when you go shopping

PS) Great job! Keep it up!
