My husband and I are having "date nights" more and more lately which we are really enjoying. Our anniversary is coming up soon. It seems like no matter what we do, we end up sitting in a restaurant. We see a movie, then go to a restaurant. We go out to dinner before attending a concert. I order pretty well (I follow WW and end up using a small portion of weekly points), but my weight loss has slowed down considerably.
I gained 2 pounds this week. Didn't see it coming, but I will role with it. I just would love some non-restaurant dating suggestions. Maybe even something active.
Romantic picnic in the park - where you control the menu. Taking walks together - wonderful on a nice summer evening. We've really gotten into board games this past year, but we're both geeks with competitive streaks. If you're in NYC, there must be a good teahouse somewhere. Those are a wonderful way of getting out of the house/being transported in a different environment and relaxing without lots of calories. Sit there on cushions with pots of tea and just relax.
Go to the Cloisters, take the train upstate and explore Beacon or Rhinebeck, hit up some cultural events (I think there's some Japan festival in Central Park coming up), see a concert, explore unfamiliar neighborhoods on foot, shop cool vintage stores to find housewares and baubles...
Just because you are dining out, it shouldn't stop you from making good food choices.
I dined out frequently during my weight loss journey and I would continue to lose weight. You just have to make good choices.
You can always request your food be made a healthier way.
I make good choices, which is why I've lost 40 pounds so far even with eating in restaurants. I was asking for alternatives to eating out frequently because I don't want to get tripped up. You can ask questions and request they cook things in a certain way but you still don't always know exactly how many calories you are eating.
Thanks for the great date suggestions. I really needed the brainstorm.
