How do I prepare for my vacay???? I had planned to take some IP with me but I do anticipate going off plan for those days.
I need help prepping.... Do I "phase" off even though Im in still in Phase 1?
Im a lil lost ... I am not trying to go hog while on my vacay with my eating.... I plan to stay close to eatiing Meats and Proteins but... I do plan to take in carbs here and there. AND I WILL BE BE DRINKING WIIIIIIINE.
There are a few vacation threads, do a search, I have one and Jennydoodle has one and DanafromAustin has one (she stayed OP on her vacation)...I'll see if I can find them but I also have a meeting in 5 minutes...:/ sorry!
I just returned from Italy and there was no way that I would not be eating carbs there! I did phase 3 and 4 before going and then pretty much ate what I wanted while there for one week. We did plenty of walking. And to my surprise, I did not gain a lb! Have fun!
I would bring ip packets for breakfast and maybe bars for snacks. I would not bother phasing off (I never did). Try to pick lower carb options when you can.
You may have some bloating, etc. bring some antacid!
Expect to be up when you return and to start phase 1 immediately. It will be hard to carb detox again, but worth it.
Im going to Mexico for a week, so Im loving seeing everyone's responses... I Plan to stay on the plan with shakes and choc balls and wafers as well. Im right there with you KBIG, I want CHEESE!!!!!!!!!!
I am also vacationing June 13 - 20 and I'm going home to some great cooking and a wedding. I have so little left to go and I want to stay OP but who knows how tempting food prepared at home by someone other than me can be!
I think I can do fine other than the flying days. They are all day flights and lord knows how hard it will be to get water for my shaker or if they will allow Ready made shakes.
I would like to do well with this trip as I would like to be off by the time my July trip (late honeymoon) comes up.
As long as you keep your alcohol choices wise (aka, no sugary drinks), drinking won't throw you out of ketosis - it will just make your body burn the alcohol off before the body fat to produce ketones (a nice red wine sounds like a great choice!). You could still stay in a 'modified Phase 1/2' and still enjoy yourself. Like momto2cs mentioned, just avoid non-wine carbs and pack your IP foods for your non-major meal times.
I know several people have phased off for a vacation - but these were usually justifiable by being 'Once In a Lifetime' trips. I think it was CassiR that was taking a 2-week France & Italy trip with her hubby recently, the first one alone w/no kids in 10+ years. Now THAT is a reason to Phase Off. A week in Chicago...maybe just avoid the carbs at restaurants - the good news is it won't take you as much alcohol to 'feel the effects' - so saving money & calories right there on wine!
