Default Pants ripped.... :(

So here I am Day 4 of my return to weight loss, and I went grocery shopping. I was excited. I had made a list. The list contained healthy foods that I can make a lot of healthy recipes out of. I got done in my first store, got to the van, climbed in with the baby to put her in her carseat.... and my pants ripped. Right down the front. Not really sure how they did it, other than they are the only pants I have (besides a pair of sweatpants) that I have been wearing since I gave birth to my daughter 6 months ago... the only pants that fit. They are too big now because I bought them while I was still pretty bloated, but still... sadness. It really just bummed me out and you could totally see my underwear through them. I pulled my shirt down as far as I could and went to Goodwill and found a skirt that fit to change into.

I can't wait until I lose this weight... I have so many clothes that fit me when I was in the 170-180lb range before getting married and pregnant and right now I have pretty much... nothing. A couple skirts, a couple dresses, a pair of sweatpants... and some leggings that are too tight. All I have are a pair of sweatpants! I usually wear skirts and dresses anyway, but it's just so frustrating.

I'm not going to tell this story to my husband or any friends and thankfully my baby won't tell... so I'll just say here. Has this happened to anyone else?

My mom is coming to visit next week and I know she's going to want to get me some clothes for my birthday and take me shopping... I think I'm going to vouch for only getting a couple sets of workout clothes... summer is getting here pretty quick so I won't need the pants for awhile, so hopefully we can get back to the pre-preggo weight before it gets cold again.

I'm sorry to hear you had a crummy day

That definitely happened to me before while I was at school! The most important thing to remember is that you are strong enough to take the initiative to lose weight and that is the most important thing. You will get there, trust me! Before you know it, you will be fitting into your old clothes again and feeling better than ever.

I shop at the Goodwill too to buy most of my clothes nowadays. I really do not have the income at the moment to constantly buy new clothes as I lose weight. If you really dig, there is usually some good stuff in there! Maybe set aside about $30 dollars or so and get some clothes there to tide you over.

Sorry you had a bad day, but it will only get better!!

happened to me shortly after going on birth control.. I immediatly gained like 10lbs (I didn't even change how I ate) so all my pants were uncomfortable. I went grocery shopping before I needed to go pick my fiancé up from college. well, as I was sitting back down into the car after putting the groceries up RIIIIP! right down my back pocket :x I wanted to go he and change before I went to get my fiancé but that would've been a big waste of gas... so I pulled my shirt down as far as I could and walked behind him when We got home.

it sounds like the pants were just worn out after heavy usage for 6months! I've had it happen the evening I went to a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert, I had lost 20lbs already so was confident the skinnyjeans I put on would be fine. But when I got into the car they ripped. Was quite emberassing.

Oh well, such is life! Good part is even if people know, they don't remember such stuff as vividly as you do yourself.

Yeah they must have been worn out! Don't worry about it. I have thin friends whose pants have ripped. Old and worn out and if pressure is applied in the right place it just happens.

Oh yes, it's definitely happened to me! A few years ago I was on the train visiting my boyfriend and I sat down and my jeans ripped. I was around 190 lbs at the time I think. It started on my inner thigh and ripped all the way to the front of my crotch area. I was just laughing at myself because that's what I do in those situations! I texted him saying "umm...emergency jeans shop is needed tomorrow!" and pointed it out to him the moment I stepped off the train. I have no shame either!

I went shopping for new jeans the next day. I bought 2 pairs that were skinny fit (but not too tight) and they fit perfectly. Well, I kept one pair of them, because now they don't even stay up whatsoever. I can actually get in them and pull the waistband out and there's a huge gap. Sometimes when I'm feeling "fat" I put on those bad boys and see how far I've come. So now my emergency fat pants are now my inspiration pants - funny how things change!

My advice would be to definitely use this as inspiration. Keep onto the new pants you buy and when you start losing weight, don't throw them out!

Most of my jeans are ripped. I don't even throw them away, I just sew a piece of fabric inside so that people can't see it. I don't even get embarrassed by it anymore. It happens to old worn out jeans... Don't even think about it!

Well, at least this gives you an excuse to buy more pants that fit on your way down. I ripped a few pants similarly.

Yeah I know, the pants were worn out for sure, but it's still frustrating. I don't like to wear long pants in the summer anyway, so I'll probably just get a pair or two of capris for the summer, and need to mend my leggings to go under my skirts. What did you ladies do while losing, get belts and keep wearing the same thing, or buy new clothes each time you moved down a size. I think the belt might be a feasible option for me but I'll have to be careful because anything rubbing on my scar gives me some pain.

This happened to me!!! I only have about three pair of pants that fit me. Two pairs of jeans and one green khaki pants. I was wearing my green khaki pants (and they are kind of old because I wear them often), and I went to get in my car and "riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip"! I ripped out the crotch. Needless to say I hadn't realized it was the crotch and I was out the whole day. When I got back in my car I heard another "riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip"!... I still didn't put 2 and 2 together until I went and changed clothes later that night and saw the giant hole in the crotch.

I ended up being down to 1 good pair of jeans because I then came to discover the next day that my other pair was super frayed on the inner thigh.

I didn't want to buy new pants until I lost weight, but I ended up having to give in and get one pair. (All the 2nd hand stores have granny pants for my size...)

Yeah I don't mind mending pants with patches when it's the inner thigh worn out, used to have that happen to my jeans a lot... but the crotch rip is just... ridiculous. I guess I don't like the pants that much anyway so I'll probably just keep some of the fabric for things (they were a khaki grey pant). Sigh.

I know what you mean about granny pants. I can never find anything in the second hand stores here in the pants realm. Skirts yes, but the pants are always ridiculous. We have no money right now so I'm hoping my mom wants to buy me some clothes for my birthday when she visits next week! (she always wants to buy me clothes whether it's my birthday or not but I usually decline... hope she offers next time... haha)

Do you wear men's pants at all? I can never find any pants that fit me in women's but men's usually has something. Even if they are men's slacks they can make due in a pinch with a little hemming. If you've never worn men's before. I know size 24 women's is about size 44 men's. I think it follows pretty similar down to size 16 women's or so, just add 20 to the number and you get roughly, the men's size. (Or measure your waist since men's size is in inches)

I hope you are able to get some clothes. =) I am in the same boat and I really hate waiting for the charity of others before I can get something new.

I had my pants rip once.. at a buffet. That was the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to me. In all truth, the pocket of my pants got caught on a decoration on the back of a chair, but it still sucked.. my friends still make fun of me for it.

I've been buying my clothes during my weight loss at the Goodwill and whatnot.. I purposefully buy things that don't look very good, though. It's motivation to get out of that size pronto!

My biggest problem with pants right now is I have this huge store of fat around my waist right below my bellybutton from being preggo and then having c-section... I just can't seem to find anything that fits unless it is spandex... haha... I'm wearing some capri length yoga pants right now with a long shirt. I'm still wearing all my maternity shirts because they cover up the odd belly pouch. So thankful for the 'peasant shirt' clothes that are in style right now.
