Default A few questions

I am so thankful to have found this site. Without it I would probably be in front of the tv with a bag of chips! I just started IP and I am committed to doing it 100% I have a few questions for ya'll...

First and most importantly...how long does it take to stop living in the bathroom??!! I am always drinking water and when I was first tested I was just short of a 5 for my hydration level, which is way good. Well I just feel like I need more water, so I drink about 128 ozs a day. I live in the bathroom!! Does that ever go away??!!

I am so excited to see people who have their WI's listed. I wonder for the big losses (10+) did you have any restricted foods your first two or three weeks? I am doing restricted and think I would have quit if I couldn't. Too much liquid for me, so having a bar for lunch is AWESOME!! And they are yummy! I just don't know what to expect for my first few weigh ins. (I know everyone is different)

Who is on IP while still cooking for other people? My husband wants to do IP but we can't afford both of us right now. I feel like I have to do IP because of my insulin resistance and don't want to stray, he probably could go the alternate route. But right now he is eating what ever and I can't. He doesn't try to do it around me, but I wonder if anyone else deals with that. How do you stop yourself from reaching over and taking a bite??!! The only thing stopping me is how much I have to pay for this!!

I see ya'll talking a lot about WF products. I want to try them but am finding a hard time finding them in stores so I will have to order. What is really yummy? I am thinking bbq sauce and syrup and a dressing but don't know what kind. I don't want to waste my money on yucky things!!

Again, thank ya'll for being so supportive and awesome!

Hi and welcome!

I am doing IP on my own, but I still have to cook for my husband and two young sons. I will admit it is challenging to have to buy, prepare and handle food for them, but I usually try to chew a piece of gum while cooking and that helps. It is hard, but I keep reminding myself I am worth it!

My WF favorites are the raspberry salad dressing, ranch dressing, and the thick and spicy BBQ sauce. I use the ketchup for a cocktail sauce for shrimp. I haven't tried the pancake syrup yet, but bought it and will try it in the next few days. I found them at Kroger and Albertsons.

I have done restricted foods since Day 1. My losses vary, but the first week was 6 pounds. After the first few days, I found I wasn't living in the bathroom.

I hope that helps...I'm sure some others will chime in with their experiences as well.

I am always going to the bathroom, but that's OK - that's partially how our fat leaves the body and that's a good thing. I also drink 1 gallon/water most days.

I rarely ever have any restricteds.

Re WF, like the BBQ sauce, the pancake syrup, blue cheese dressing, thousand island (russian) for the bag mac in a bowl, creamy bacon, italian, sesame ginger. But everyone has their own preferences and importantly, seems like your taste buds change while on this diet - what you don't like in the beginning here often tastes good a little while later.

Good luck, you will do well, stay disciplined on the program and the pounds will melt away!

Hi and Welcome
I have been on IP for 2 months and I am still living in the bathroom ( I drink allot).

I have been eating restrictives since day one and I am losing steady, I would have a really hard time without them. My 1st WI I lost 8 pounds. I average over 3 pounds a week.

I cook for my DH & kids, most nights I make a normal meal for all of us, I just dont have the carb side dish. I do allot of grilling. I just eat whatever meat & veg I make. Sometimes they want pizza or some pasta and I will just make me something different. It really doesnt bother me anymore when they eat in front of me unless I am having a real hard day and even then it isnt too hard to resist anymore.

I ordered WF products online and my coach also sells some. What I like the best is Caesar dressing, chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, blueberry syrup, pancake syrup & thousand Island dressing. Everyones tastes are different, (some people like the bbq sauce but I didnt like it) You may just have to taste some and see what you like.

Good luck on your journey.. it works if you work it!!!!!

Hi kmc and welcome! I drink at least 100 oz of water every day and I still live in the bathroom after 15 months of it. But then again, I'm 59, so that may have something to do with it...

I like the WF barbecue sauce, caesar dressing, sun-dried tomato dressing, raspberry dressing, honey mustard, caramel dip and chocolate dips, all of the jams. I found I was eating too much of the sweet stuff though, so I cut back on it. I usually add a little apple cider vinegar to the dressings.

Good luck - this board rocks!

I love the WF Thick and Spicy bbq sauce, Bacon dip and Chipotle Ranch Dressing.

I too have been allowed one restricted IP per day. Its my treat and they are soooo good. I don't think I could do the diet without them either.

Water and going to the bathroom are good signs

WOW!! Thank you for all the replies! I am glad to see I am not alone with having to cook for others. It makes it better know that someone else is doing it and doing very well!!

Thanks for the WF suggestions. I think I am going to order some today!!

Welcome to the program. You will like it and it works.

My husband and I started the program together. We decided that dinners in our house (including two young kids and a grandma) would all be IP approved. So they eat what I eat. The kids don't miss the carbs at dinner anymore. And really, the are eating lean meat and veggies for dinner. Nothing wrong with that. My kids are little so they still complain about the veggies but overall it works. We rarely make different meals for the kids anyway, even before.
So maybe you can compromise and do a few meals a week that are IP approved so everyone benefits...especially you not having to cook things for them that you crave. And so you don't feel like you are eating "diet food" while they are eating "real food."
Other things i have done is make roasted veggies for me with turnips, rhudabaga, kohlrobi and leeks. Then i make one for them too with carrots, parsnips, butternut squash and onions. That way they get the sweetness, i get my healthy no sugar/carbs veggies and I don't feel like i am eating completely different food items every night

It is hard but you have to remember that you are worth it!!!!

I cook for myself and my BF. He's not on IP, but has been happily eating my IP approved dinners. (He also stopped drinking while I'm on the diet out of solidarity.)

Just started my 4th week and am still living in the bathroom. But if it's flushing out the fat, then it's worth it!

WF products are hit and miss with me. Love the pancake syrup and thick & spicy BBQ sauce. I like the Italian dressing. Can't stand the ranch or raspberry vinaigrette.

I love this site. There are so many different ideas and motivation. Before I heard about IP I seen the WF Raspberry dressing and tried it and it wasnt bad at all. I guess now I need to figure out whether its cheaper in the store or to order online. I cant wait to try the BBQ sauce.

Ive always been a heavy water drinker and would think by now my body could handle it. Wrong answer. I also live in the bathroom sometimes I feel as though I need to move my desk in there while at work. I seem to be in there more than my desk.

I think from what I have read, the more water you take in, the better your losses will be. Hmmmm.....BRB...OK, back...just got a drink! The pancake syrup and BBQ are good, the mayo is ok if mixed with something else (mustard), most dressings are too sweet for me. The thing to keep in mind is that these have Splenda in them and while 1 serving is 0/0/0, it can be listed as 0 even if it has .999g of something like carbs or fat which can add up fast. If you find yourself with big cravings, look at the amount of artifically sweetened things, and see if there is a relationship.
