Question Is this okay to eat?

Hello everyone,

I work at a deli. I was wondering if its okay to eat a grilled chicken salad with cheese and ranch dressing. The lettuce is dark, but it isn't romaine. I'm trying to begin induction.

Thanks

Welcome!

Check the dressing for carb count - and the chicken salad is just plain chicken cut up, right? There is a limit on the cheese too but I'm not sure what it is. Oops! I'm not much help, huh? Hang in there and the more knowledgable chickies will come answer.

HI Kobe21,
In the book, we're allowed up to 4 ounces of cheese a day during induction, and we should count 1 carb per ounce.
Sounds delicious!

I find if it's a natural cheese and not processed that the carbs tend to be less, if that helps.

I wouldn't think it would matter if the lettuce wasn't Romaine. The only difference is that the Romaine is more nutrient dense, and has a few more vitamins in it. Some Ranch dressings can have up to 6 grams of carbs in it, I ought to know I've made the same mistake my self. My advice is to watch the labels. I have a hard time cutting back on cheese, I'm a cheesaholic. Otherwise it sounds fine. I remember induction, it was the pits. I was tired and achey coming down from all those carbs I used to eat. Before that I was a high carb low fat person, so it took some getting used to going completely opposite. I'm glad I hung in there though, I feel great, my energy is back to normal, and I'm not obsessing about my next meal. Make sure you drink plenty of water, and take your supplements(they really help). Please let us know how ou are doing. Judy
