For me, this doesn't pass. Neither does induction-flu (so it's not "carb-withdrawal"). For decades, I thought Atkins was unhealthy because of how lousy I felt on induction (I never proceded to OWL - not even to the first plus 5 carb rung).
When my doctor recommended that I try low-carb for my insulin-resistance, and warned me not to go too low carb (but admitted he didn't know what was too low), I had to start experimenting.
Now, with more experience from experimenting, I realize that the unpleasant symptoms were a combination of low-blood sugar and hunger. On induction-level carbs, I don't ever feel hunger in my stomach. Instead, the first indication of hunger, is irritability (I don't even notice it, hubby does, and will remind me to eat something). My second symptom is more irritability and a mild headache, which will then proceed to rage and a worse headache, and if I still don't eat, I will get an upset stomach and lightheadedness and feel as if I'm going to faint (in my late teens and twenties I actually did faint several times on induction - which was another reason I thought Atkins was unhealthy).
I did learn that carbs instantly fixed the problem (again, yet another reason I thought low-carb was unhealthy). But "this time" I learned that eating anything will solve the problem, it just takes a little longer with protein or fat than it does with carbs (which just means I can't wait until I have the going-to-pass-out stage before eating something).
So now I know, when I'm eating induction-level low-carb, I have to eat more often than when I'm eating higher carb, and I need to eat at the first sign of the irrational, irritability that means hunger (usually I don't catch it at this stage - hubby does, but even without hubby I do usually realize what's going on when the mild headache shows up).
