We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.
We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.
We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.
Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simultaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.
We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us
Good morning! I am posting because I am so excited. I have lost 30 pounds! Yay! That number was a big deal to me. Now I'm getting excited thinking about how long it will take me to lose the next 30. teehee.
I hope all of you lovely people are having a good 1st of December. This month will be a challenge for me, but I know I can do this.

Rach,
WTG on losing a total of 30 lbs. Now lets shoot for another 30 and then more and more. You can do it!!! Just stay head strong and just think you can still treat yourself just in moderation. Like for instance during the holidays there is a limited edition oreo that comes out. It's called white fudge oreos. I absolutely love love love them. I bought three boxes with 12 cookies in them each. Now I don't eat them all in one sitting I'll have one or two a day here and there. Somedays I go without having any so when I do eat one its a treat. Cookies are my weakness so is chocolate cake and brownies. But I have a little taste as not to deprive myself. We can do this I am hoping this water weight I have on right now leaves by the end of the week. Remember drink lots of water. Talk to you soon.
Lynn - Thanks for the pat on the back! I can still treat myself.
I was not very good over the Thanksgiving week, but I did make good choices about half of the time. IDK, to some people that would be failure, but to me, that was a major success. I mean, come on, I denied myself nothing before I went on plan. Half is a big change for me.
Those fudge covered oreos are delicious! I am loving calorie counting, because I really can eat anything I want to eat, as long as it's in my calories. I know that I will have to get stricter with my food choices once I have lost a lot more weight, but hey, when you've got 130+ pounds to lose, any change for the better is success!
Hey, Great job to the both of you! Sticking to a plan through the holiday will be challenging but attainable for me. I have my eye on the prize of 200lbs so I won't let anything get in my way of reaching it. I am on this program to get the weight off then once I am at my goal I can slowly go back to eating regular food. I am not missing anything but pizza that is it. That will be my reward once I am done!...lol...Best of luck

Rach,
Do you measure your food intake? I measure almost everything. I also eat multigrain bread and multigrain cheerios; it helps me to stay full most of the time.
WTG Rach! I do the same thing with calories, eat what I want but stay within my limit. I used the calculator on LiveStrong that you suggested and discovered I'm probably eating about 200 calories a day more than I should for my goal, so I hope that will help even more!

Thanks Wuv, you are doing an amazing job. I cannot believe how much weight you have lost. You are an awesome success story!

I break out the measuring cups to remind myself of the size of a serving. After my not so great Thanksgiving holiday, I started using them again, just to make sure I didn't forget! I have started buying whole grain items too, I think it does help keep me more satisfied, but what I've really noticed is that I miss my fiber if I don't eat it. Crazy. Me, missing something good for me??

Rachael Good Job WOOT you go girl,Wuv you look wonderful grats on the 100 lbs lost, Lynnie good job on the 90, I can't wait until I get to fifty , then sixty and seventy, well you get the idea LOL> I am just chugging along
(from lifeboat thread) I'm hanging in there, but did polish off a small bag of cream caramels from BassPro shop. On a good note, I got some warm floofy socks there!! I think I made it to my sister's place in record time to get my parents to drive BACK to my place and go to church. No lightning strikes and I think I had some angels watching over me (if anyone knows the DC metro beltway traffic, you'll understand).
I have an NSV to share. While at the mall, I got very warm and took off my jacket (just a hoodie). I could wrap the arms around my waist and tie them!! I didn't have to carry the fricking thing or wear it and sweat it out.
One more day of parents here and I can try to get my routine back on track. I've been going to bed very early to avoid the night snacking and try to get energy back after my bad cold.
No matter if you don't celebrate, have small holiday celebrations or go whole hog in your festivals: my wish for all is to stay safe and take care of yourselves.
Hey Ratkitten! I live in the DC Metro area too (Northern VA/Annandale). Love that 24/7 construction on the Beltway, huh? Of course, I don't have a car but I still ride in friends' cars, so I know how irritating it is.
I had a small NSV myself recently: I can now SIT in my size 28 jeans! Before I could pull them on, and then I could zip them, but now I can actually sit in them and still breathe. AMAZING!

O.M.G. Today (dec 26) I had to drive thru Tyson's corner. It was HORRID! I was going to take the parents to the mall. We turned around and escaped to Fair Oaks Mall. Even then, it took 35 minutes to get out of the mall parking lot. Oiy. What a day. It's ok, because I ate a wonderful amount of protein and only splurged on a latte coffee.
Yay for your NSV!! I have a black pair of jeans I can zip up, but can't sit down in. hehe. I am looking forward to wearing those when the time comes.
Well new friends, I am jumping in with both feet. I will get the hang of all this sooner or later. I am sure if I post somewhere wrong, someone will kindly tell me that I have! LOL
I took the plunge and stood on my scale in my bathroom with the thought that I was too heavy for it, has a 350, which I thought I was at least that or over. You know how it is, avoiding a scale at all costs! To my surprise numbers registered, which obviously meant I was under 350, I weighed in at 338.8 ! SO now I have starting place. SO, i thought I was over 350, and I am NOT! THANK GOD! Mini goals is how I am going to achieve this, I can't look at the big picture or I will get discouraged.
Here I am ladies....working on getting my 20 days in and the required posts so I can get my signature!
