It has happened to a few ladies in the begining due to the Soy content in most IP products. Soy has natural hormones in it and can cause TOM to occur twice. Also if you are taking omega fish oils that can cause TOM to occur as well. But dont freak out too much your body will adjust

weight adjustment causes a shift in hormones, because estrogen release is partially based on your fat cells.

Estrogen is the main reason the uterine lining builds up, and (lack of) progesterone is the main reason the uterine lining sheds.

Soy products contain estrogen-like compounds that your body processes much like its own estrogen. Intake of soy has varying effects on the women who consume it. Some find it helps their menstrual, infertility and menopausal conditions, while others find the opposite to be true

Weight loss or gain, also play into your menstrual cycle.

So it could be all or a combination of things.

I was 4 days late and then when it came it was heavier than usual but only for a day. Then I'd have it and it'd go away for like 12 hours or so and then come back. It was like spotting but heavier and really sporadic. Super strange. I think it's completely gone now though so I wish my weight would reflect that!

I got mine two weeks early and it lasted THREE weeks. Seems to be gone now...

I really think that the hormones are the reason. Fat contains estrogen and as we burn fat...voila. My skin is also HORRID. which has NEVER happened before...but nothing is as bad as staying fat so I am fine with this (as long as I dont have TOM forever....)

I basically had a light period for 5 weeks. I went to my gyno and he said it was because of my rapid weight loss...like there is estrogen in your fat cells or something along those lines.

I had similar issues and it was a bit disturbing. My 18 year old did also. I was worried, so I did a web search for Ideal Protein period issues and I found a statement by one of the physicians who is involved with the program. It stated that it was because of the fat releasing the hormones. It also said that it could have an effect on birth control pills and that people should use alternate contraceptives for 4 months.
The most important thing it said was that it was not harmful...and that things will go back to normal.
