Default Breath Odor

I've read that ketosis causes bad breath but hadn't noticed it at all. I am on week 2 and this morning my husband said my breath smells horrible. He said it's almost like an old blood smell. Could this be what it is? How long does it last? Can I chew sugar free gum to mask it a little? He said it was just as bad after I brushed my teeth this morning.

My coach said no gum..but use mouth wash. I found that as you stay on IP the breath problem seems to go away..but I also brush my teeth alot!

The bad breath for me only lasted week 2-3. I have not noticed bad breath since. Drink lots of water and it will help flush the ketones out so your breath does not smell so bad.

Do you guys know if it's possible to be in ketosis and not have the bad breath?
I'm about 2 1/2 weeks in, and I haven't had it (I haven't noticed it and I even have asked my husband).

My coach recommended Scope breath spray. I keep one in my desk at work, and another in my purse. I've read that for some people the breath becomes very metallic or sick sweet. I've noticed the sick sweet breath. But it isn't every day - comes and gos.

Gee, thanks honey, right?!

Everyone's chemistry must be a bit different because my hubby's was more like a slight menthol. It went away over a couple wks, hopefully it will for you too.

Yeah, he actually told me our dog's breath was better later in the day too. I bought some little bottles of mouth wash and some listerine strips to have in my purse!

I never had an breath issues nor did my coach. Knowing it was a possibility, I got several Listernine Pocket Pacs (one for the purse, car, office desk, etc) just in case. I use them once/twice a day......puts a nice, fresh and different taste in your mouth.

My daughter told me that mine smells like paint. I bought a tongue scraper and I drink lots of water. I am going to get some breath spray. My coach actually sells xylitol gum and hasn't said anything about not chewing gum. I even bought a few packs from him.

Unfortunately, it's a bad side effect while on this diet. My husband also mentioned to me that my breath was bad, I explained to him that it's supposed to go bad while in Ketosis, and hopefully it will get better with time. He is so happy on the other side that I am losing weight. Meanwhile I pay close attention to my oral hygiene, nothing more I can do.

I am in week 2 and have not noticed that I have bad breath, and I am sure my kids and husband would have loved to tell me!! I drink 2-3 gallons of water a day, so maybe that is why??? I use the keotin strips.

I drink anywhere from 120-140oz of water and I still have it. I was told no gum.
