Lightbulb Supporting Each Other on Our Weight Loss Journey

This is a great thread for those who want support, helpful hints, friendship and a great bunch of people to communicate with. This thread has existed for a long time and we keep re-starting it whenever the old one gets too long. Feel free to stop in and chat, we are not a "closed" group and welcome newcomers. Some of us have been together for well over a year, some only a few days, but we care about each other. We offer tips, we share, we pick each other up of the floor when we've had rough times and we applaud when someone does well.

So, please do stop on by and share a bit, support is what it's all about! We can really do this together.

I've had this same thread going for a long time here, but I've been out of the picture and it died. I didn't die, though. : ) What happened to me, though, is that I was sick for awhile and unable to work at Weight Watchers or even exercise.
I've been back at WW meetings the past three weeks and have lost 5.4 pounds. I hope some of my old friends might come back and that some new friends join in. It's good to be accountable.

So, here is a question. We own a summer cabin and go away every weekend. Last weekend, I was discouraged. We ate out 4 nights in a row. How's a gal going to lose weight with this going on?
This past weekend, I vowed to find some healthy recipes. I made them and brought a few things up with me. We ate out on our way here, and I had spaghetti and meat-sauce and a glass of wine, which probably was about the safest thing on the menu at this place. But, husband ordered fried calamari and I couldn't resist having some. Blew almost all the points plus I had left. have done OK the rest of the weekend.
I'm proud of myself for planning ahead and bringing foods this weekend. We saved money and I had healthier choices. The best part was that the family LOVED the foods.
So, does anyone have any great ideas for foods I can make ahead on Thursdays and bring in the cooler on Friday nights that make great lunches/dinners? It's a good thing to have healthy foods available and not as many temptations.

Hi, Linda. I'm in Massachusetts so we're New England neighbors. I love your signature line "Have had medical issues, injury and all sorts of stuff going on, but it's time to say "no more excuses". I'm in the same boat, and I finally decided the same thing. I can make excuses for why I can't do something or I can make decisions and choices that empower me to DO something. And ya know what? I'm doing it!

As for your travelling problem, I'm not really sure what do suggest. I don't have kids, so that makes our planning ahead a lot easier. We eat a lot of turkey burgers, salmon burgers, veggies burgers, garden salads, etc. Does your cabin have a full kitchen? Can you grocery shop and cook up there?

It's good to see you again, Linda, and see this thread. I'm glad you're well enough to post again. I'm back because schol is out and I have time to breath;e (and, I hope, plan and eat well). I can't have any help on the weekend dining, I'm afraid. Dining out scares me. There's really no way to tell ingrediients, especially amount of fat. When I know I'm going to eat out, I don't eat any WPA points and eat carefully, but I don't eat out often.

I have been struggling to get my 10% for 15 weeks. Next week is my 16th week and at weigh in I am determined to lose the last two pounds to make my 10%! My summer goal is to lose 20lbs before I go back to school around the end of august. I'm really excited because the first week of august I am going to see some people I havnt seen since April and I want to blow their socks off by how much weight I have lost. I'm hoping my wl by then will be a total of almost 40 lbs!

derry, I love eating out so its become easier for me to plan and know whats good and bad. first off, plan. if you know there is a certain place you guys always hit then get a print out of the nutrition facts and carry them with you. If you have a smart phone its easy to look up nutrition on the spot.

you can eat out on plan, I have faith in you!

I'm Meg in New Orleans. I'm gonna be getting married in November, after dating the same guy for TEN years. So although I'm looking to lose weight in general, it would be nice to loose as much before then. I tend to have trouble on the weekends. I'll do fine all week and then have two days that can do some damage. But life goes on. I'm down 27 so far in 18 weeks, so I'm pretty happy.

Born, raised, and living in New England, too. So howdy neighbors! ^^

The only thing that came to mind was fruit salads... I love fruit! And there's almost always a fruit salad available at picnics and traveling, etc. Who doesn't like a cup of fruit on a hot day?

Hi Everyone!

Thought I'd come on over and join this thread! I've been struggling for the past couple months, I can't seem to stay on track like I did in the beginning. I'm so close to goal but I seem to sabotage my efforts at night when all I want to eat is garbage. For example, I woke up at 2am this morning and the first thing I did was grab a bag of pretzels and a box of Fiber One Cereal. I think I grabbed both of them because they were sitting on my kitchen table so I didn't have to look through the cupboards.

I really wish I knew why it has been so difficult for me to stay on track, I know I'm not scared of reaching goal. Maybe I'm too comfortable at the moment.

I am a night time eater as well... i get home from work at midnight and all i wanna do is munch cause i am so hungry! A few weeks ago i was eating popcorn when i got home, but now i am trying to make sure i always have grapes or cherries at home so i can munch on those. It has been helping me i think. Some weeks i feel more hungry than others though.

I dont drink near enough either. I cant even figure out how on earth to drink as much water as is needed daily. I feel like im drowning lol.

Hi!

I've been struggling ever since the beginning of April to get to 10% lost. It's been quite a struggle, but finally made it on the 25th!

Been working overnights the past month. It's been a struggle eating wise. I want to munch on junk food all night long, but I've been being strong. I bring lots of fruit and a tiny bag of pop-chips to try to curb those munchies. Then , I sleep thru the afternoon after I get home, and my meals are haphazard. I'm just trying to get all my fruits and veggies and milk in. Haven't been as good with exercise. Ughhhh

As I'm nearing 30 pounds lost I'm really feeling better about myself! And people are noticing, which is the best motivator. I bought my first pair of jeans in 4 years and they feel awesome on!

Just a cup?! I LOVE fruit salad!!!!

And, BTW, I am from Maine!

We just finished a camping trip. Honestly, I didn't track the whole time, but I ate on plan. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies that are cooler friendly or just cardboard box friendly (cucumbers, grapes, baby carrots, apples, salad mix, kiwi, watermelon, etc.) we bring a medium sized cooler and a cardboard box for food not needing to be cooled. But, there are only 2 of us (and we don't drink), so I can use 1/2 to 3/4 of the cooler space for on plan food.

I plan for 1 cooked meal a day (dinner over the campfire) and the other snacks and meals are cold. For breakfast my husband is content with pop tarts and I don't like them anyway. I ate a fruit and grain bar or dry cereal and milk and fruit each morning. For snacks I had pop chips, fiber plus bars, fruits, veggies, reduced fat peanut butter, basically things I eat on plan normally. For lunch we had sandwiches. I opted for tuna (I get the single serving cans that come in packs of 3 so I don't have to guess on how much to make up) or turkey. I use fat free mayo (for the tuna) or mustard and light whole grain bread. I added tomatoes, lettuce, sprouts, celery and pickles to my sandwiches. And on the side I had apple sauce and cheese sticks.

Like others said, the biggest thing is PLANNING!!

I love Crystal Light. I was on a diet soda kick for a while, but I am trying to get away from it. Walmart makes their own brand of crystal light in the single servings for less than $2 a box. There are 10 sticks in a pack and they are made for 16.9 Fl Oz bottles. I alternate between 1 bottle of plain water and 1 bottle of lemonade just because if I drink too much lemonade I get acid reflux. We have really good well water AND filtered water from our fridge, so I just buy 6 packs of the bottled water once a month or so and I keep re-using the bottles. For some reason, I am more apt to drink from a water bottle than a glass. Who knows....maybe I'm just weird!

Okay, too true! You win! I could eat a whole entire bowl of fruit salad if I'm not careful. Even though we don't have to count fruit points anymore...well.. I personally still have to be wary of the 'how much' fruit. (So maybe I'd measure out two cups. )

I'm not really one for camping specifically, but I've done a few trail hikes/walks in the past and I do enjoy those. There are a few in the area that are not more than a 10 minute drive away. So I've gone with my husband out with a little picnic basket and had a nice walk around before finding a spot to enjoy a late afternoon lunch.
