Ok, what's this hair loss deal?????? - 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet Weight Loss Community

8 weeks new to IP and just joined 3 chicks. Have seen some entries about hair loss! E-gads, my counselor never mentioned this. How common is it and should we be concerned nutritionally? Thanks

I think it happens with many diets only because of the change in calories but over time most people have said their hair does grow back again. I have noticed it with my own weight loss as well.

I had hair loss for about a month... a LOT of hair loss... then I took some time away from IP and it stopped. I'm back on track as of Monday and hoping the hair loss stays away!

Let me add some light to the problem...
I asked my doctor today about this..while this temporary condition only occurs in a relatively small percentage of famales, its usally due to a hormone change and it stuns the hair follicle..usually the older hairs...they will grow back stronger and silkier..this is actually called Telogen Effluvium and is totally reversible...not like mens baldness called Androgenic alopecia which is permanent..The new hair shaft that normally replaces the older hair shaft if temporarily thwarted in its development..Changes in your diet and hormones can cause this..but it grows back...
So thats the info I received..and its from Ideal protein ...

I am losing a lot of hair too! And my periods are heavy & early?? What is up with that?
