Default WW question (might be joining)

Hello Ladies

I have been reading up on WW and I'm really wondering if I should join it. I have been counting calories for the past 3 years but I keep going off track. I feel like having the support at the WW meetings and knowing that I have to step on that scale in front of someone might help. I need to loose over 100lbs and it's hard when you have to do it on your own. Has anyone lost over 100lbs for just doing WW?

How do you like it? How fast did you see results? Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I am low on funds and need to be positive this will work before spending the money. I can no longer keep gaining weight and feeling like the outcast just because I am over weight.

Thank you

Hi BlueEyes - don't worry about how fast you'll see results - weight sometimes comes off fast but then goes right back on fast as soon as you've stopped a quick-loss program. Focus on how sustainable the program is with what you're willing to commit to it. It's a program of moderation and not deprivation - so that's healthy. I rejoined (had lost weight years ago and gained back over the past 10 years...) and am pleased so far. I, too, need to be accountable.

Maybe join for three months and then see if you can carry forward on your own. Give it one month off program if you need to because of finances, and if you don't continue with the same losing trend that you'd set before, rejoin to reinforce and rehabilitate the healthy habits.

For me, WW is totally worth the money. If you follow the plan, it does work. I never would have been able to lose the weight on my own without the meetings. Something about weighing in each week makes me stick to plan. It's also great because if you have a bad week, your meeting is like a restart and an easy way to get recommitted instead of just always putting it off until tomorrow.

In terms of speed of weight loss it is different with everyone, but from what I have seen and from my own personal experience you lose weight as fast as is healthy and sustainable. Some other plans might have you dropping pounds way faster, but they have some health risks/aren't a sustainable option.

Financially, I find WW to be very fairly priced. I also have found that it sort of pays for itself when I account for how much less I am spending on crap food.

I just re-joined for the 3rd time this past Tuesday along with my friend. She lost 80 lbs before and decided she too needed to be held accountable and wanted to join for that reason alone. I didn't have major success before because I always seem to struggle with eating all my points and felt somewhat restricted from my favorite food.

I will tell you that with the new program that they have just rolled out, I have to eat more points than before but I am not restricted from foods that I like. As for the cost, I am the same way however, I added up the cost of how much more expensive clothing is for my current size and it's worth the cost. You have many options to choose from. You can pay as you go so if you don't like it or don't see a difference, then you're only out of the cost for the meetings you actually attend. Then there's the monthly pass (the cheapest route) or you can do a 3 month membership which is the middle cost of the two.

I will tell you that I find counting points a lot easier than counting calories and I would like to lose 90 lbs.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

It works for me. And I realized today that the reduction in my grocery bill more than pays for my monthly pass.

Weight Watchers was the BEST gift I could have ever given myself! Tomorrow will be exactly 1 year that I have been on plan and have lost almost 100lbs. It really does work but only if you take the necessary steps to track carefully and add activity in daily, even if it's 10 minutes.

I wish you the best of luck on your new journey and if you ever need anything please don't hesitate to send me a PM
