Default Questions, questions, questions

Ok, I'm needing to set my first goal... I have a date in mind, but I can't remember how well I did the first time I was LC-ing. What is a resonable goal, something doable, but still pushing myself!!! For January 16??????? I get to go home to Nova Scotia for a visit then and would like to have hit my first goal by then. Anyone give me a suggestion on whats do-able??
Next...is there a good yogurt thats ok to eat? I've gotten into the habit of grabbing a yogurt on my way out the door in the morning, I know I can't have my Yoplait anymore and I'm hoping there is an option???!?!?!?
And lastly....how do I put a picture under my name? You all have such cute ones, I want one too!!!
Thanks all!

Default Are you doing Atkins or just low carb?

McMom, the answers to your questions will depend. If you are doing Atkins starting at induction, you can probably safely expect to lose at least 20 lbs. by 1/16. If you are just low carbing it you will probably lose slower.

Regarding yogurt, if you are doing Atkins you can't have it, even if it is sugar free. Because it's from milk, it contains a lot of natural sugars. I think a cup of plain yogurt has 14 grams of carbs on its own.

Good luck, and keep us posted!

Default My 2 cents on goals...

I'd say setting your goal depends on how much you weigh now. My experience is that the more you weight now the more you'll be able to lose before Jan 16th.

I have a maximum of 50 lbs to lose. I believe from past experience that it will take me longer to lose this 50 lbs than it would take someone else (who has a total of 100 lbs to lose) to lose the same 50 lbs. Does that make sense?

To me it seems like the more you have to lose the faster you can lose it. At least at the beginning, then you start losing slower. (and then you get frustrated, and then you plateau, and then you gain, thus is the vicious cycle of weight management).

Personally I'm trying for a 30lb loss by June 1st. That's slightly over 1 lb. per week. Of course this past week I've lost 5lbs. If I keep that up I'd reach goal in 6 weeks, but realistically I know that won't happen. Nor would it be healthy if it did.

Oh no, I've written another novel. I hope this didn't hurt more than it helped.

Dyan, I agree with you completely. From unfortunate experience, I know that I loose more at the beginning of my efforts and then as I get closer to goal, things slow down.

But back to McMom (WELCOME BACK), I think your goal sounds reasonable, it helps me to have such motivation as a special event.

Luv, Hugs, and wishes of op days!
