Smile Fabulous FRIDAY 11/8

HELLO EVERYONE!!!!

First off, I want to say to everyone that had a loss or turtle this week. Not too easy to do knowing we just passed by a 'candy' holiday. WOO-HOO to Wendy, Christie, Liz, Cherry, Brenda, and ciecie. Hope I didn't miss anyone. I got the info off the November weigh-in thread. Ok, I'll add me in there too since I did have a 1/2# loss Wed eve. For those of us that don't get the 'high-fives' in our chapters when we have losses.....try not to take it personally. Hold your head HIGH and KNOW you have done good. I think that members that are really struggling have a hard time being 'happy' for the losers....and it does seem like jealousy at times. I feel sorry for them. Yes, there are those that are always 'catty and witchy'........but give them a 'raspberry' behind their back or secretly in your head. Sometimes that feels good!!

Now for those that didn't lose this week.....remember there is next week. Try to stay focused on portion sizes, drinking your non caloric fluids [preferably water] and moving your body as much as you can. I struggle with these on a daily basis and when I lose focus, I gain. Lots of time it's easier said than done, but jump back on the horse that keeps bucking us off. We have the reins in our hands......remember that.....don't forget!

Eleni, Don't get discouraged. Keep doing the exercises and watch the choices that you are making. It really will come off, if you keep doing these. I hope things are going well with you!! Come on sis, I've got your hand and I'm here for ya!

Wendy, It sounds like that seminar was really good. Inspirational speakers are always wonderful and they have great tips. Most say the same thing, but put their special twists on things. Isn't it nice to break that next 10 pound increment.....now you're going into the 180's. Don't allow yourself to go backwards.

Joyce, I was sorry to hear that your meeting was cancelled. It should NEVER be unless there are emergencies like bad weather, broken scale, etc. The size of the chapter should never be an excuse. Even if 2 people are there to weigh in each other.....that is all that is ever needed. How many are in your chapter? Keep your losses going and don't let it get to you. Are there other chapters not too far away. Hey, I've got some members that drive 25 miles.

Coco, How is the haircut? Sometimes I lose when I shave my legs and I always joke about that. I hope you get at least that 1# loss from the hair that is no longer gracing your head. LOL!!!! Don't let that gain get to you. Shake it off and it will come off. I'm rooting you on!

Sherri, I was hoping to see that Oprah program yesterday but I was still at the doctors. How did you do this week with your scale? I'm hoping it is positive since your life seems on the right track with the eating, exercising, spending quality time with Megan and working. You've been a busy lady! I hope the lady needing daycare calls you back. I hate when they don't give their numbers at the beginning. Never fails the machine cuts off.

Whew, now to me. Since last weekend the knee was feeling a little better everyday. I got down to one crutch......but couldn't get off entirely. Went to the Orthopedic surgeon Wed and he did an MRI. I am so thrilled I do not have any cartiledge tears.....but I have a lot of fluid behind my knee cap from the trauma. Also what is going to give me continual problems is that both of my knee caps are not centered where they should be. The spaces between my upper and lower leg bones are nice though. There is a cushion that basically disappears where the knee cap should be and that is causing a lot of my problems. He thinks it is happening on the other leg too since the regular Xray is the same. He gave me a cortisone shot in the bad knee with 2 'local' anesthetics in it. A few hours later, the motion range had not changed too much, but oh, I could put my weight on the leg. It felt soooooo good. I had to watch that I didn't overdue since I couldn't feel it. Today I'm sorer, but still walking. Today I go start with PT to get exercises to try to pull the knee caps over abit. He said that even if it's 1-2mm it will help. I asked if it was caused by walking funny and he said "no, thank your mom and dad for it"...so I sounds hereditary. DD in college is already thanking me since she messed up her knee doing the splits last year!!! AH, the joys of parenthood. Dh has been a sweetie and taken off work since 10/31 to take care of other DD.. He has to get back next week. By then I should be able to push all her appliances, maybe not lift her in my arms, but at least move the lift around.

Had our "Fun day" rally Sat and all it involved was giving out awards to members for weight loss, attendance, consecutive weeks in the black, etc. The coordinator talked about the resumes and some other stuff that is needed.....but there was nothing 'fun' about it. It was so crowded, no inspirational speeches, etc. For those that didn't get awards, it was very boring and I heard from some members that they will not go to another "Fun Days" unless they know it will be fun! I can't blame them one bit. Also heard that the big losers all had gastric bypass surgury so members that lost 'normally' weren't recognized in the top 3 places and that is as far down as the awards went in each catagory. One gal in my chapter lost 40 pounds in 5 months and she got nothing other than consecutive losses. I can see a difference in the amount of weight a member has to lose now and it is virtually impossible to be a 'big' winner without surgury. I certainly hope that TOPS realizes this and starts 2 seperate catagories. One for surgical intervention and one for non-surgical. I KNOW it is doctor perscribed like TOPS states, but it an entirely different ballgame now. What do you all think about this????????

Oh my, I certainly got carried away. Sorry See what happens when I've been gone for awhile? Have a great start to your weekend and lets be aware that we will be challanged at this time of year with all the sweets that are for sale out there or getting baked.

A BIG TOPS {{{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}},
Summer

Summer,

Congrats to you for your loss this week girl. You are doing great. Keep up the great attitude. You will be back at kops status again. Sorry to hear about your fall rally. They are supposed to be fun.
Glad that your knee is getting better for you. Hopefully the PT will do what it is supposed to do for you.

I did great all week. Yesterday was a real tough day for me. But as far as the scale goes I weighed in at 185 here yesterday morning and that is what it said last week before weigh in. So I would say I turtled also.
I have been working out everyday though so I know the muscle thing is going to effect the scale. But I am more concerned with inches at this point.

I was weighed and measured at curves this week and the weight was up from sept. The bodyfat was the same and I did lose inches in my waist and my stomach. The other parts were up. But I only have been doing great for 2 weeks. So I will go by next months weigh in to see the results.

The reason I had such a hard day is because I did it to my self. I kinda went backwards. I didn't want to do the bodysculpting tape that I had down for me to do. I did it on tues. and it was painful and extremely hard to do for me. So I knew that and I put it off. I did end up making myself do it after dreading it all day. But I wanted to do it because it was on my list of things to do. Plus I know that by doing it 2 x a week it will really tone me up and bring the inches down all over. It is so hard to do because I have not done it in soooooo long and my muscles were not used to it. As soon as I did it and got through it (with a lot of moaning and pain LOL) I did feel so much better. I wasn't very productive yesterday on a whole because I was dealing with that all day. I should have just done it first thing and got it done and over with. So I did learn something from it. I WILL do it first thing come tues morning again to get it done and over with. Then I can get on with the rest of my day.

So it was a learning day I guess. The food intake has been right where it needs to be also. But I am not expecting the scale to tell me that because all the exercise will throw that off. I will notice in my pant first I think.

I am off to work (cleanhouse) today and then only have an hour of time before I have to get megan at school today. So I will be busy again today.

I also got the company I work for from home more national accounts yesterday. So I did accomplish something. And I created an article for the newsletter my boss is putting together. So I did do something.LOL

You all have a great day. I think I will put in my weight from yesterday from my scale and go from there. It is the only one I have really to go by. The scale at curves is more accurate then the one here compared to the one at tops.

Have a great day everyone. Keep up the great work.

Sherri

Hi,
I didn't make it to Tops this week, not feeling well. But I had a doctor appointment to day, and I am down 25 pounds since July 7th. I was so happy!!

It has been hard work, but it is getting easier to stick with a plan. I am so thankfull, that I am not useing food emotionally anymore. That was a real break through for me.

Have a good week everyone.
Blessings,
Nancy
