So at 18 I decided after researching I wanted to get wls... I went to appointments, classes, and such and was doing okay. I was slooowly losing the weight they asked me to lose.. but it took about two years for me to get down a few pounds (admitting I didn't really take the first year seriously... then my two friends got the surgery and seeing them lose so much weight and look and feel great about themselves made me get serious)
but the beginning of this year was really rough on me and I just stopped trying to lose weight and go to the needed appointments and classes. I went from 295lbs back up to 315lbs. I want to get back on track but by January of next year I'll be switching from Kaiser's Cobra insurance to Sutter's insurance (my mother works for sutter). I have no idea what sutter asks it's patients to do before surgery.. I'm going to look into it when my new insurance kicks in.
I was strongly interested in the band when I started, but lately I've been looking more and more into the Roux-en-Y surgery...
I am also wondering if this is a smart thing do start up again when I'll be going into culinary school next year as well (baking and pastry program) ... probably not... haha?
Congrats on "getting back on the wagon" lol. I'm having gastric bypass done hopefully by the end of december. A friend of mine had it done and he makes desserts and things like that sugar free, low carb and you'd never even know. Not sure how much you've researched but there's something called dumping syndrome, and if you eat something with too much sugar, you'll get really sick. It passes, but I'm sure its quite unpleasant until then lol
